So I was out in the woods Saturday and I saw a few yotes in a basin by the water this was about 1000, i wouldave waxxed them (or attempted to) if i had my rifle but since it was just a scouting trip I didnt have it lesson one learned... So sunday I figure i would go coyote hunting for the first time welll I got out there about 0900 and sat downwind of the basin in pretty much the same location that i saw them in before, I waited for a while and saw nothing heared nothing except for a few birds...
so my question is did i spook them when i left saturday? (i might have )
did they bust me and stayed away from the area?
did one of you guys shoot them?
this seemed like a wierd situation but maybe itsme

Go to the area and try to call to them. They wouldn't be spooked enough to completely leave the area.

They have a little cycle they visit places in. Friend of mine has a little farm and a batch of Coyotes show up about every 10 days or so, nearly like clock work. They will probably be back when the make the rounds of their area. Larry

Coyotes usually don't just show up in the same spot day after day. They usually run a bigger area than say a deer would, However as I said "Usually" coyotes have been know to make liars out of many hunters. I Think I would go back at first light and try to call them maybe a distress call and be ready to wait. They are not overly excited or in need of much food right now.

Coyotes can travel up to a few miles a night. I wouldn't be too worried about it. Just keep after them.

Am I able to hunt coyotes around this area (spokane) at long range - 400 + ish Ive heared mixed things, bascialy i want to be able to set up and try to get coyotes to come in but nail them when they are out there instead of waiting on getting them in close, I mean i really dont want to walk that far but i do like the challenge of the long shot and I have a 22-250 that i would like to not see go to waste
thanks

Yes. Head south, once past Mica you will be in rolling wheat fields. If you head west you will also be in farm country once you hit Cheney.
