Title: Morning Frustrations
Post by: Prime Time on September 15, 2010, 02:32:38 PM
So this morning I hiked about 2 miles into a walk-in where I've always seen elk in the past but hadn't been in there this season. I was in the clearing I wanted to be in right around daylight and right away I spotted elk. It turned out to be 2 branched bulls by themselves about 300 yards away so right away I was thinking, Jackpot! Figured it was too good to be true as not long after I spotted them I could hear a truck coming my way (there's been logging in there on the other end of the walk-in which is why I avoided that area.) Here comes one of the logger's pickup driving down into the clearing. They drive right into the middle of the clearing, spot the 2 bulls I'm watching, and without even shutting off their truck, bugle twice in about 30 seconds. :bash: Which obviously the bulls did not answer. They stayed there just long enough to spook the bulls and to see me standing on the landing. >:( They turned around and left, not coming down to me (figures)and left me fuming on the landing, So this pretty much left me high and dry for the morning and frustrated as can be.

Figured I'd get that off my chest since this season has been a season where if any possible thing has a chance at going wrong, it has, and even something I didn't expect, like today. :dunno:
