There was two really nice Non typicals killed in Mason County last year. I know 1 picture was up at Verle's  The other i don't remember where I seen it at. Once these little guys get in your blood it is hard to get them off your mind.

I find it wierd how many 1 or 2 or 3 by hanging down broken off velvet covered antler (blacktail bucks) I have seen killed or in the woods and I think they make the coolest trophys.

I will see if I can get the pics from my buddy but he passed on a buck last year that was a non-typical.  It looked like clubs coming out of the top of his head with six or seven fingers sticking straight out of the top.  Over all he was about a 14-16" spead but anout 18" tall.  He saw him 3 times but took a nice 5x5 the last day of the hunt.  He hunted 4 days and saw 5-6 shooters every day.  All blacktails.  They are up there boys.  How hard do you want to work for them?

Below is the link to the buck I got last year.  I thought it was cool, especially being able to look at it on the wall.

Cool bucks fellas, putting one of them down is a challenge in it's self.  Never shot a non-typical but my buddy's dad did a few years back.  Hopefully this year will be the year of the blacktail for me.  Good luck to all. :)

Not really a non-typical as to antlers but the deer I have as my avatar is definitely not your typical blacktail. I got the blondie in 1989 late hunt between Barlow Pass and Darrington up the Skull Creek drainage. I have the hide also and the tail is just a light shade of brown. The rest is blonde.

Here's last year's buck.  Live weight was 189lbs.  My experience with blacktails around here is you will probably see more non-typicals than typicals on the more mature deer.
