Hello,
I am new to Washington, specifically living in the Spokane area. I am looking for any info on deer/elk hunting in the Selkirk area, I think it is GMU 113. I definately not opposed to walking. Mainly, I am looking to archery hunt, but will do some rifle hunting from time to time. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have gathered that it is remote and not too terribly heavily hunted. I am from Montana and kind of enjoy the solitude usually having hunted pretty rugged county there. Thanks

Welcome to Washington, your hunting experiences will never be the same as where you came from. Whereabouts you from in Montana?

I am originally from Miles City, in the southeastern part. I lived in Billings for the past several years. I have done the majority of my deer hunting in southeastern MT, elk hunting in the western part and basically played around everywhere in between. Fortunately, I know quite a bit about hunting in MT, which helps me not so much here. I pretty much knew before I moved that it would be tough to equal MT, but, i'd like to put forth a pretty good effort each fall and see what happens. I simply live to have some time in the fall to be outdoors hunting, I fish quite a bit too, but the hunting is what really gets me fired up. I don't expect anyone to give real hard earned info here. I am just looking for a little direction. Thanks a bunch guys.

Whitetail and Moose are everywhere. Take some scouting trips and you'll see the sign. Elk are harder to find. Stop in at the Pend Oreille Sportsman shop in Oldtown. They'll give you plenty of information. An article was out this last fall about the population of whitetail in Region 1 of Idaho. They estimate there are 200,000 whitetail North of the Pend Oreille River.
