what part of the state or gmu are you guys headed to for the opener? if you tag out early do you camp for a few extra day's or hit a lake and do some fishing? i am going to be hunting outside of Oroville and hope to get a chance to fish bonaparte and sidley before coming back.
-
For me, around 460. Nice, close, good bear pop.
Deer-wise, wenatchee
-
Headed to the Blues. I don't know how coveted the tag is, but I drew one of ten for "3 pt Min". I'll probably shot the first one I can, just to free up more time for coyotes.
-
out and about. :IBCOOL:
-
like always 382 for me on our place :IBCOOL:
-
Out the back door
-
I go out my front door.
-
dunno, i have a mutli season deer and elk, but no muzzy season in the areas i am familiar with :(
-
It's a secret but it's within 20 miles of my house. Will be hunting blacktails for 9 days. :IBCOOL:
-
St. Andrews unit here I come! I want revenge on some of those big muleys from last year. :)
-
Headed to Vashon Island (private property), to fill my second deer tag for that area, hopefully! :hunter:
-
Big Piney!
-
timbuktu :chuckle:
-
Just over the hill from my place.
-
set camp about 8 miles from any road. any free time if tagged out will be packing meat out. cant stop thinking about the season!
-
Well since WDFW didn't mail me my license and tags and they say I have to purchase duplicates, I'm not going. I refuse to pay additional fees for their frickin mistake. So, this fall looks like it dedicated to salmon. That license I was smart enough to purchase at a vendor, and not online.
It's the principle of the thing.......idiots.

Sorry to here that Wacenturion, have fun salmon fishing :hello:
-
The woods! Probably Issaquah unit hopefully where the deer are :dunno:
-
20 miles from Rochester :P
-
Don't know if I'll hunt the opener in Oregon or not. Should be headed down around Medford for some nice mul... I mean blacktails ;)
-
Here and there ;)
-
Good luck to everyone.....be safe....have a great time. :hello:
-
Going out right now to get the gun loaded up so I don't have to do it in the morning when I'm barely awake. Weather's going to be nice just like today, I guess. Might have to take a nap mid-day out in the woods tomorrow if it's sunny like this. :)
-
suckers around here were out like mad. only saw one legal buck on a piece of ground that we do not own, but i have a hunting lease on. we went over and put signs up today. dam it was hot! :'(
might be a good idea bobcat last thing you want is to put the bullet down first when sleepy and then the powder. :chuckle: then the 30" toad steps out and your bulletr bounces off :chuckle: :yike:

You have first hand experience with this? :chuckle:
-
nope. watched my buddy shoot just a bullet and cap, one time. the funny thing was he had his chrony set up on a 55 gallon steel drum he was shooting threw and the bullet bounced off the barrel :yike: about 2" higer it would have wacked his chrony :chuckle: i still give him crap about it all the time.

I will be on the Mountain @ 5:30 AM. After a toad I saw yesterday.
-
I think I'll be leaving the house about 5:30. How long does it take to get to "the Mountain?"
-
it takes me about 15 minutes to where I park and begin my trek. I am lucky enough to basically live where I hunt. It will actually be my 16 yr. old son who will pull the trigger if we find that deer again. He has yet to get a big game animal.
Best of luck to you all!!

So this brings up a question.
Can you buy just a fishing license and then just a hunting license?
If you buy a hunting license online and then later purchase a fishing license at a vendor doesn't the last one purchase contain all the info? If you lost the last purchased license don't you have to purchase new ones rather than going back to a recent license?
-
I was thinking the same thing. He could just buy a fishing license, or any license that's real cheap, and it would be just like a new hunting license, showing all that he had paid for previously. The only problem is he still would have to buy the duplicate tags. Which is B.S. If your licenses and tags do not come in the mail when you buy them, they should give you replacements at no charge.
-
Bumping unit. My partner and I set up camp Wednesday for Muzzle Elk, alittle early but we wanted to get our favorite spot ;). Also got the trail camera out, the climb'un tree stand out, built another tree stand, and finally we built a blind.

Correct...........my fishing license I bought at a vendor later shows other licenses and tags purchased.....2010 hunting license , deer tag, elk tag, cougar and bear. However, I don't physically have the license or tags in possession.
As for me I'm not about to pay additional fees for something they should have mailed me. So I guess this fall is dedicated to salmon instead of hunting.
The dollar amount is insignificant...30 something, but the principal just pisses me off. If I was really into making an issue out of this, I would just go hunting....then when and if...which is a big if, I get checked, I'll just show them my fishing license which shows other license and tags purchased. Explain I did not receive them in the mail, was not going to pay for duplicates, so license and tags not on person, so write me up....see ya in court.
But that (see ya in court) would take away from my fishing time. As I said before...I won't ever buy online again.
-
Get the tags and then when everything is over write a letter explaining why you need a refund. Everybody makes mistakes and this one is either yours or theirs. No big deal. If it is their problem, it's a process matter that they will need to review with their staff before the 2011 licenses are sold in a few months.
In the last year I've recieved four license plates with two tabs... and in March 2010 a 2009 deer tag and automatic $10 fee for reporting late.
A letter corrected both situations. Turnaround time was about a month.
-
"Everybody makes mistakes and this one is either yours or theirs."
Theirs....not mine....never received them. Sent an email and this is their reply................
"Dear XXXXXX
Thank you for contacting the Washington department of Fish and Wildlife,
I researched your account, I see your purchase of 05/26/10. Your license was sent out within a few days of your purchase to the address you have listed in your account of
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Unfortunately at this time it is too late for us to reprint your documents as it has been more than 45 days since your purchase, and that is our allotted time for reprinting documents. I do not see that your documents were returned to us. You will need to go to a local dealer and purchase duplicate licenses.
If you have any further questions feel free to ask.
Thank you,"
So if I want to hunt it's only going to cost me an additional $8.40 for each of the following:
Hunting license.......$8.40
Deer tag.................$8.40
Elk tag...................$8.40
Cougar tag..............$8.40 (I think there is a cougar tag)
Total......................$33.60
Like it's real hard to go to the computer and bring up a duplicate license and tags, print, and mail. Only takes a minute at a vendor...why not at WDFW licensing. What's the big frickin deal. Some customer service.....pay more....get less and less.
-
You have cause to escalate your complaint and probably should so the process can be improved. In the primary workflow of purchasing a license online the policy of rejecting a request to reprint documentation after 45 days without a fee assessment is not easily found before reaching the purchase button. It might be shown after the purchase in the fine print, I'm not going to make a purchase to check.
Pay the fee, go hunting, send your escalation letter to your state representative.

Request for replacement of licenses, permits, tags, stamps or catch record cards required by chapter 77.32 RCW, which have been lost, mutilated, or stolen, must be made by the licensee. Duplicate licenses, permits, tags, stamps and catch record cards may be issued at department offices or by recreational license dealers.
"Frequently Asked Questions" response on the online purchase page:
Deer and Elk transport tags require the purchaser to indicate weapon choices and hunt areas for elk before these transport tags are issued. If selections were not made when ordering online the purchaser will not receive these transport tags. However, your transport tags can be obtained from any WDFW license dealer. If you purchase a hunting package that includes bear and cougar those transport tags will be included in the license package mailed to you.
