I was able to get out and hunt opening day of Muzzleloader season for deer. I saw five other bucks throughout the day and was on a good 3 point right at first light. I decided to pass on him knowing that there were other better bucks in the area. I was able to take this guy late Saturday evening. I found him in his bed at 167 yards. It was a bit of a poke for me but I was comfortable with it and ended up double lunging him. He had a body like a mule. The pack out was a bit of an adventure and I am pretty sure my knees are worn out for good. I have had some hellacious pack trips but this one was by far the roughest one I have done. I am very happy with this buck.

Great buck! I'd be pretty happy with it.
It looks like you're wearing the Predator Camo in Spring Green. Have you had a chance field test it much? Have you been in a tree stand with it? Do you usually hunt the eastside or wet side?
I'm always interested in the performance of new patterns. I'd appreciate hearing your oppinion.

Great job, Your the Man. I still cant believe how big that deer was> he had hindquarters like elk. I feel bad that you packed him out by yourself, I should of got you up before we left to see if you got him out yet. Congrats again. If you come down this weekend dad and I will be camped by the lookout starting friday. Oh and the buck that I killed had a lot of fat on him too, more than I have ever seen on a deer, does that mean we have a tough winter ahead?

that fat means that we had an awesome summer!!! it stayed extremely green up there this year, should be some good eating critters.
good job to both of you!!

wow 167 yards! Thats a great shot considering the front bead probably takes up about the whole body of the deer at that distance (maybe not that deer, it is a beast!). What rifle and load are you shooting?
-
I have the Traditions Vortek. My load was 100 grains of triple seven and the 250 grain Barnes TEZ Bullet.
-
