Title: Winston Creek Gates Closed... Were would you recommend to camp and hunt?
Post by: Yelm hunter on September 30, 2010, 10:59:17 PM
Well we have known that Winston Creek would close the gates for camping this year and make it Walk In Only!!! But I'm a bigger hunter. Can do alot of walking and riding a bike but I Can't ride in that far!! And calling them there not sure if they are going to be selling Keys or not this year. Still trying to make up there mind.

Sooo....

Were would you recommend going instead for Modern Elk??

My Dad, me, my brother and a good friend are going. My dad is a disabled vetern but can do alot of walking and biking too. We were thinking about going to White River but thats a special draw hunt area now. Is there any areas you would recommend?

How about Toutle? What do you guys think??

I guess we'll be going to willipa hills!! Unless they decided to just go ahead and open Winston Creek up after all... We will just have to wait and see. Maybe at the last minute?

Toutle is a draw only, but you can camp in there on the state land and then run back across the street for Winston

I have seen a sign up link on WDFW website for the St. Helen's land access.  So my guess would be is that the gates will be open on the weekends during modern season.  Also I believe camp nine is on state land, Port Blakeley use to allow camping on their property, however some idiots feel it is easier to Haul their trash up there and dump it, instead of going to the dump.  So can't blame them for wanting to close their gates.
