that is one thing i really dont want to do with this one. i think i would shed a tear.
I believe the phrase i used to talk my wife into this was "a functional lift"
dream ride would be a cj rebuilt on a modern suspension but until then ithink i will end up keeping this thing nice and building a TJ when i get back.

i think they are still going to rub even with the lift. but it does not look like you are going to use it on the trail either.

it's really not hard to spot a hard core jeep guy is it? :chuckle:

Just another trailer queen! ;) Bet that will stick out in Germany... When I was in Munich i saw a 90's step side chev lifted like 6in... It stuck out like a sore thumb...

with the lift and shock choice it is supposed to comfortably clear 265 75 R16's. i went with the 245's for cost and to make sure i dont have any troubles. There are a few offroad parks in germany that i will try to hit up but other than that i will be in the states in 8 months(unless they let me stay). Most of the areas i hunt over here are pretty soupy and this will make it much more functional.

That is all right. No problems with the polizi in regards to the vehicle not being stock?
When I was in Sweden the locals that did not like motor heads gave me a hard time about Harley Davidsons making noise. I barked back in their language and told them to enforce muffler laws.
-
That did turn out sweet. Congrats. Mike

Lol it wouldent fit your rig, I want the iro 3.5" kit for my jeep its only 300 bucks for the base, then the 2" bb lift i have right now will go together with it (there coil spacer) then ill have 5.5" , what kind of axles do the grands come with nowadays?
-
nowadays they come with IFS :puke:
mine is the last year(2004) of the straight differential. mine has the D30 inthe front and a D35C in the back. the V8's came with a D44 in the back.
Did anyone see the 2011 grands'. thats one slick ride
-
yeah thats what i got d30 upfront d35 in back, it only has 92,000 miles on it!!!! and its a 93. yeah i would love to get me hands on a 2011.
-
I know it wouldnt fit m ride but if i could pick it up for 50bucks i'll do it every day ofthe week and twice on sunday.
-
1.5 inch wheel spacers. jks bar pin eliminators, and donkey dicks for the shocks and SS.
-
put on the spacers, tenneco SS, Addco rear SB, shock boots, and JKS BPE's.
The drive home was great.
Even got the wife to help out. She took off the side steps in prep for the IRO Premium Sliders coming in a few weeks.

New DS Came in today :IBCOOL:

that moto cost me a lot of money when i was young
-
I bet it turns some heads over there!!!! Really Cool !!
-
gets me the old german stink eye twice as bad as my old jeep. whenever i park it though someone always walks up to it to take a gander. i think it's the only lifted wj on base.

i'll probably be even more cautious now. craps expensive.

new lug nuts came in. stock ones were falling apart.... literally.
-
I would be excited if I had new nuts come in to plat with as well, lol

-
Iron Rock Offroad Premium Rocksliders.
Installed them last night.
Figured the red rocket was so long that there was no way i was going to keep things from hitting the bottom of my doors and body in the woods. lol.
-
Now were talking, they saved by rig a hundred times over. Plus you now have a highlift location the length of your vehicle, lol
-
The saved me the first time the other day. slipped down a log and BANG. they already paid for themselves. :IBCOOL:
-
Nice sliders!
-
Now all ya need is a tummy tuck, suck the muffler/cat up out of the way and add some more skid plate. 8)

LOL, tummy tuck, lol,
I had a buddy who bought those cool looking diff protectors that you put on over the differentials and attach by replacing the cover screws with the longer ones that come with the unit.
http://www.quadratec.com/products/92023_001.htm (http://www.quadratec.com/products/92023_001.htm)
He snagged his backing up somehome up at Even's Creek and ripped the diff cover and the protector clean off!
I usually do not carry an extra differential housing while four wheeling, lol
-
a lot of guys cut the spare tire well and lift the tank about4-6 inches. It would be nice but i still need some place to put my spare. not a lot of fabrication options over here and i dont think my wife will let me order a 1200$ rear bumper with tire carrier.
I swear this model is the worst for bumpers. no one makes a simple winch mount for it due to the unibody. have to get a huge batmobile bumper. :bash:
-
Spare goes up on the "new" roof rack, :chuckle:
Until you have to pull it down and use it, dang things get real heavy when you are sitting a odd angles.
-
Did a little wheeling. New guy in my shop just got a Nissan and put KM2's on it so i took him out to show him the CTS offroad course.
inthis pic the near tire is about 10 inches off the ground and probably ended up about 18 off the ground before it came down. my tires stayed on the ground the whole time during this problem. :IBCOOL:
he kept saying "your gonna kill me" and i replied "no, your wife will when you roll it" I kept telling him to turn the wheel left and he kept panicking and turning it right. "your other left *censored*" :chuckle:
-
that thing makes me miss my old pathy. that thing never got stuck.
-
cool pics, Back in the late 80s, I took a buddy of mine 4xing, he had his short box Isuzu trooper I had a lifted and locked Comanche at the time. While going over some large whoops he got his right front and left rear on top of the berms and both powered wheels were off the ground by about 2 ft. He was totally stuck just balancing on his non-drive wheels. I got out and started laughing at him, he got pissed because I would not push him off the berms until I took a picture...and took my time, lol. I pull it out every time he comes over.
I would post it but it is an old Polaroid, lol.
-
i did the same thing in my YJ...... had to be pulled out by a damn liberty :bash:

Another example of why IFS sucks. :chuckle:
-
lol
-
IFS is ok for what its designed 4... 70% roads 30% wheeling... Same goes with tires...A Mud tire that gets lots of traction in the soft dirt will not wear as good as an all season tire... :twocents:
-
We went wheeling at boser wolfe yesterday. it was awesome. ended up with 7 americans with 7 jeeps. Had a blast.

sorry for the unintelligent comentary from my peanut gallery. they have a limited vocabulary. :chuckle:
-
Did you even have to put it in 4wd? :chuckle:
Little less air in the tires would of made a huge difference. :twocents:
-
diff pumpkin actually rides the ground at the top right there. the right side rut was to deep to get out of.

Next upgrade.... Front bumper and winch. ;)
-
Looks like fun!
-
Next upgrade.... Front bumper and winch. ;)
you want to build me one. they start out at about 800 bucks for my rig. :bash: I've been trying to plan a bracket system that would allow me to use a TJ bumper or a winch plate while maintaining my original bumper.
-
the price of bumpers is a little crazy , I have found 2 for my liberty that fit what I want only 1200.00 got to love that. its a good idea trying to fit a TJ bumper is a good idea.

we drive the redheaded step children of the jeep family. I was having less trouble finding lifts for the libby's when i was looking for a lift for my GC.
-
I am leaning towards the rockyroad rockfather lift, arb bull bumper, supersliders, roof rack and some lockers and I am good to go. the lift and bumper are not cheap but the rest is not bad. I am home for a bit and driving the liberty now getting 27 miles a gallon on the average and plenty of power and get up and go. when are you getting back to the states?
carl
-
i was supposed to go back in june but they pushed it back till jan2012. i guess i'll have to survive another red stag season. lol.
Can you even lock IFS?
-
I will build you bumpers for half the price ;)
-
I will build you bumpers for half the price ;)
With a winch mount? how much do you charge for shipping to APO? I'm sick of all these thousand dollar grand cherokee bumpers that looklike they were chopped off the front of the batmobile.
http://www.csloffroad.com/JeepWJBumperwithWinchMount.aspx (http://www.csloffroad.com/JeepWJBumperwithWinchMount.aspx)

I would think shipping it to you might be a bit spendy :dunno: I hate the look of those bumpers. I am going to bed now but we can talk later. Your Jeep is lookin sweet. Maek
-
When are you PCS'n back to the states?
-
It was supposed to be in june, but they pushed it back to JAN2012. I guess i'll have to stick around for one more red stag season.

Rusty's does some pretty good fabrication. He did my lift and Rock Rails at an awesome prices

-
all they have in stock for mine is the ARB bumper and i really dont want to pay 850$ plus a ton of shipping for something i dont like. It would probably be hard to have them fab something handy for mine from 5,000 miles away.
I came up with an idea for brackets that would allow me to place any wrangler bumper on there. i brought the idea to one of the aftermarket jeep part companies a few days ago with hopes that giving them insight into my design might get me a prototype.
-
I'm not sure on the weight of the stuff you're looking at, but APO addresses will only allow items up to 75 lbs. so keep that in mind.
-
Rockyroad has ARB air lockers for it http://www.rocky-road.com/kjarb.html (http://www.rocky-road.com/kjarb.html) I head out to Kosovo in March, it will be my last deployment I received the approval for my retirement yesterday so the end is sight! the liberty will be a slow build unless I score a good job next year.

dont buy anything from rocky road, and i dont htink thats for the IFS. probably for the d35 in the rear. you could go with an auburn ECTED and save a few hundred bucks.
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f197/bad-rocky-road-offroad-rro-experience-441808/ (http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f197/bad-rocky-road-offroad-rro-experience-441808/)
24 pages of why not to buy from rocky road. you can get an ARB from any number of other dealers other than rocky road, it is a commonly sold product. They obviously work well and many people use them, but i cant get over my reservations on an air locker.
#1 i can replace/repair/splice a shredded electric wire a lot easier/cheaper than a shredded air line.
#2 not only are you paying 800 bucks for a locker, but you have to buy an air compressor to go with it + install
#3 an air line is a lot harder to trouble shoot than a wire
#4 everybody does it and i want to be different :chuckle:
-
time to step it up a notch. now i'm just waiting on my wife to mail me some seafoam from the states. :IBCOOL:
-
Don't use the Seafoam during the day! It makes a huge cloud of smoke that will get everyone interested in what you are doing. :chuckle:
-
the germans will crap there pants because i'm "ruining the environment". I was gonna take pictures when the polezei turned up.
-
time for a tune up. still waiting on seafoam though. i'm guessing with the TRE, gasket, vacuum line problem, plugs, window vents, cleaning engine bay, filter, oil, and seafoam...... I'll be at it all day when the time comes. :)
-
I am not sure if these guys have a bumper for your rig or not but it looks like a good options for winch attachment.

1. Gave her a bath for all the salt and mud that was frozen on her
2. replaced Hood supports. Its an amazing feeling when that hood goes up by itself and stays for the first time.
3. Fixed cruise control/vent issue. The Hose had simply discoed at the intake side.
4. Seafoamed the brake booster vacuum line, crank, gas tank and took a video.
