Anyone heard any reports on this area. Haven't had the chance to scout at all this year. Hunted last year and there were a ton of deer but I also heard that the deer were dying off from blue tongue disease.

the Chesaw wildlife area is a waste of time seriously . just not big enough. ever since Washington hunting & fishing news ran their article a few years back now you see guys running skirmish lines all over the damn thing if their not on 4 wheelers  . we used to own property up behind the MD ranch up on old dominion mt. off of Chesaw rd. during modern that place is as bad as the worst place on the wet side i have been going out there for about 20yrs and only go for muzzy out their now.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Ok so not going to go there I guess. That narrows it down a bit for me. I don't see many people looking to hunt the 204 unit on this forum. Looks like everyone is going to Entiat or east of lake Roosevelt. I always thought 204 was good with the mix of whitetail and Miley. Hopefully not too many hunters out there.

I have hunted 204 for 20+. The people run in cycles. Last year, in a 2 mile stretch, we spotted 12+ hunters in an area that we very rarely see anybody. They were all on open hillsides, we were on the tree line, just inside the brush. There were not many deer at all. I also believe that since Fishing and Hunting news has "targeted" this area, there has been a dramatic increase in people sightings. Normally, if and when west-siders show up (I live on the west side), I normally end up bird hunting and collecting wood.

Thanks highmuley......its the same everywhere. Its all about how far out you go to get away female all the orange. With the internet, Google earth and Topo maps and gps's out there, find a place without hunters is very rare. I saw a ton of huge muleys this summer. So not to worried about the numbers....just the disease that has recently (within the past 2 months) hit.
