Title: Ammo Question?
Post by: a_bess on October 09, 2010, 08:13:08 AM
I have a 7MM Ruger M77 MKII. I really like the gun, but I cannot seem to get any consistent groups. I have always shot Federal Premium 140 grn. Nosler Partitions for deer. Do any of you guys reload a good round that this gun seems to like better than the factory loads? I know every gun is different, but I am looking for a starting point.  :brew:

Try some Nosler Ballistic Tips if you just want to see if the rifle will shoot good groups. I wouldn't necessarily use them for hunting, although I have and they do work good for deer. But for hunting you might go to the Nosler Accubond.

How long have you had the rifle? Perhaps something has loosened up over time, like a scope ring or stock bolt. The scope could have a broken crosshair or something could be jammed between the barrel and stock as well. With the prices of ammo I hate to see someone burning through the ammo if its a different problem.

My bud shoots the same rifle, same caliber and he loads for it. He is shooting 120 grain Ballistic tips. I believe thats what they are, the red tipped ones. That thing shoots darts.
I'll see if I can get the recipe from him.
