I may be in a position to ask for a new bow for Christmas from Santa, nothing wrong with the old one (15 yrs Golden Eagle), just a bit noisy and slower than I would like as I've had to reduce draw weight because of a bum elbow.
What are your opinions of the best bow, for the money, available at this time? I have an average draw length so most bows will fit me but do have smaller than average hands. Looking for one 60-70+ pounds. I have a hard time with the over $500 price tag of new bows hence still have my old one but if that is what is out there then....
Thanks in advance.

Get a barley used or new bow from the archerytalk classifides. I just bought a 2OO9 bowtech 82nd airborne with less than 5O shots through it for less than half the original price. Plus the new bows are about to come out so I bet a lot of guys will be dumping their 2O1O bows for decent prices.

It sounds like you and I are alike in that we don't buy new gear very often. I just bought a new bow this summer, and I intend to be shooting it for a long time. I tried all the big name bows, but settled on Elite. I liked the feel and they have a lifetime warranty. More bow for the money in my opinion.

I have a PSE BowMadness XS. less than $500. Very short, manuverable bow, but is stable and shoots better than I can. It is 60-70lbs, and has a very thin grip which I really like. I haven't checked lately, but I assume they still make them.

I bought a bowtech tomkat about 4 years ago. Never shot anything with it but that's a whole other thread. My targets sure are scared of it though. 3 of my buddies have them and they are happy. I can't remember the price but I know I spent over $500 because I bought a hard case, arrows and release. I really like the bow, it's quiet and smooth but I haven't shot other bows since. From what I hear the PSE bows are really good with a better price. With the new rage of bowhunting most companies have a huge competition so in my mind for $500 you should be able to find a great bow.

I have a mathews Lx Right handed 70 lbs, 28" or 28.5"draw with everything on it. Trophy taker rest mathews 1 piece quiver, limbsaver vibration dampers, Tru glo 5 pin sights. Gonna get rid of it this year after late season 400 bucks..

Some of the upper end Parker bows shot really well in the past. I shot some of the EZ Draw bows, a 70lb draw felt like a 60lb draw and was really smooth. I'm not sure about now as I haven't shot one in quite some time. They are reasonably priced for what you get.
