Well we got back last night from Wyoming. Pretty good trip for mule deer. Saw quite a few good bucks, and dandy 4x4 with good forks and a little passed his ears, but ofcourse we had both filled our tags already. I actually got my buck on the north end of the ranch while we were antelope hunting. We were sitting on a ridge top and there was a little pheasant draw below us. I look down and see a buck walking out of this draw. He looked good so I started to move his way to get a better look. Well a minute later a truck drives across the ridge opposite from us, probably a good quarter mile away, the buck sees this truck and without hesitation BOLTS back down into the pheasant draw. So i sit my ass down thinking hes going to run up the hillside right at me. After about 5 mins of not seeing him I decide to move down and check that draw out. The thing was we had a 360 degree view of the draw, we could see EVERY possible escape route he could have taken. So i sneak down the hillside and begin walking the top of the draw looking down into it. I walk down about 200 yards one way, nothing, back 200 yards the other way, nothing... I was thinking he vanished into thin air. I had almost given up but decided to peak over this boulder that was sitting right on the edge of the draw, I peak over and instantly see a set of antlers 10 yards below me, then another set, and then this big boy laying there stairing straight up at me, I slowly shoulder my rifle and look through the scope.. crap scope was still on 9x and all i could see was a blur of fur and brush, too late, they bolted. I rest my rifle on the boulder, find the big buck of the 3 and am tracking him in my crosshairs, 140 yards out he stops and gives me one last look and the rest is history.

congrats on your hunt. Too bad all the capes are cut off, would have given you 250.00 to 300.00 for those mule deer capes.

Aw well crap, Ill keep that in mind next year. One reason we don't take the time to do it, unless were going to get it mounted of course, is the fact that we are already a little pressed for time and we would have to skin the entire skull out due to the fact you cant bring the skulls back into Washington because of that Chronic wasting disease. But like I said, if we have the time and I remember, i'll bring a few back next season.
