Anyone fishing for trout, Trolling, spinners, bait, etc....? anyone got any killer moves or techniques that would work in the cold weather?
Been thinking about getting back on the lake but when i do i want to make sure i put a hurting on the fish like i do the deer........LOL :chuckle:

On the olympic penninsula......I actually live on lake sutherland and i usually doke my little 12 footer in my front yard and troll around(wedding rings), slow and really slow, But for some reason that isnt given much of a return......Maybe i need to go deeper. I dont know.....
I tried a few rooster tails and caught a few but only in one area....Its like this little special hole on the lake, But i dont want to over fish that paticular area.....
And i know this lake has more potential for the size of trout that are in it than what i have seen.

Coast, I could not find any reference to Lake Trout and Lake Sutherland. Though Sutherland produces good trout and Kokenee. Makinaw are usualy near the bottom. A good depth/fishfinder and down rigger or leaded line and flasher with plug or six inch Rapala will do.

I'd keep fishing the hole. Others will come to fill it in as you haul them out...

Sutherland is a good Cutthroat lake, I would try a small brass, or silver spoon (1 1/2") Troll fairly fast and hit shorelines and don't be afraid to run right along stumps and logs. Zig zag, don't go in a line for any length of time. Watch the lake temp too, if you have a thermometer, you want to be fishing between around 47-57 degrees water temp, colder or warmer, trout go sluggish for trolling.

this time of year's got to be slow-trolling. the water is too cold and the trout are too sluggish and not interested. once the water starts to warm, it will spur their appetites and they will get fired up quick.
alchase, i think he was talking about trout in lakes...not specifically lake trout, or mackinaw..i might be wrong.
