I have a nieghbor that was telling me about a buddy that lives out of state gettin ready to go out deer hunting, i think Idaho, but he was scouting and put out a new cheapo cam to see if there was anything worth while. left it there a couple of days and after he checked realized that there were no time stamps on the camera, BUT had just a couple of deer and that was it. well he descided to leave it out again but this time put one of them old timer ticking clocks for what ever reason and when he went back to check the cam there were more deer/bucks pictured on there then he could possibly imagine and they were all curious about that darn clock. has anyone ever heard or done anything like this with results like that????? i was/am a little reluctant to believe but he is not really a person to yank my chain. just curious. :dunno:

I know a guy who said his son was using his cell phone with the ringtone that adults can't hear and the deer kept popping up in the cut. They swear they were attracted to it. :dunno:

Sounds like a fish story to me!! :chuckle:

My Dad told me back in Texas he and his grandpa would hunt deer by driving out somewhere and turning up the radio in the truck with the doors open. After a while his grandpa would say pick one out, and he'd shoot it.

I read a recent article in a hunting magazine that sounds like the same story.... they had pictures of deer looking at this clock mounted on the tree in front of the camera.
Did your buddy write the article?

Not that i am aware of. it may have been his buddy that set up the cam but i have not talked to him since then, with my elk season and he has been out of town I have not had time to talk to him.

If it is true, probably falls along the same lines of shooting an arrow into the ground. I've heard of guys doing that and having a deer come check it out. Also heard of a guy shooting a turkey and leaving it down, only to have a deer come sniff it until the guy shot the deer.
Who knows.

I can not remember what magazine it was that i was reading BUT i think it was Texas as well, this guy was and had been scouting out this big'o buck for a while and come hunting season GONE. well a mexican field worker siad he had seen him everyday while he was working pretty much everyday while out in the fields listening to mexican music. for about a week this guy never got a glimpse and finally put two and two together and descided to go sit in his truck with mexican music blarin and sure enough BOOM there was that big buck and he blasted it. deer are mysteious creatures sometimes as to what they are curious or attracted to.

I have seen and heard of deer doing all sorts of goofy stuff. Usually does and yearlings but a few good bucks as well. They are very curious. Noise just puts them on alert, they usually only take off when they identify a threat by sight or smell. If they haven't been spooked by sight or smell they will come check out the noise. Had more deer than I can remember come check out my predator calling. Again usually does and yearlings.
