I have heard them two differnt times grunting one I know was a big ol buck the other I didn't see but it was a buck of some sort any now I a call I may try it I have praticed with it but never around deer I know of one time this guy had a call he blew it next thing he knew there was. Big 3point standing out there so he shot it

the best call will be a set of rattling horns if it is the rut.
-
Dito....rattling will work in late season when the rut is in full swing...worked for me in the past...theyve come running like whitetail! :twocents:

Son and I were watching a couple little bucks....I think maybe a couple spikes....in some guys yard in Winthrop a couple years ago. They were feeding on an apple tree with a couple does. We pulled up to within probably 20 ft. and they didn't seem to care a bit. My son had a grunt call and decided to see how they'd react to it. As soon as he grunted it out the truck window, those two little guys started going at each other, butting and wrestling. It was a funny thing to watch. :chuckle:
That was the same year we watched a couple yearlings in a field playing with a couple calves. That was hilarious too.

I've done it once with a bleet call during an archery drawing rut hunt. I called and my dad shot a 3 point.

Ive brought them in with yote calls

*censored* Rasbo, you can't give away all our secerets. :)
-
I have brought a couple in just by raking a tree with a branch.....but they acted more as if they were just trying to figure out what was going on and not so much that they wanted to fight.

I usually stand up and whistle, and clap..it is amazing the effects it has..you won't believe that you tried it! :chuckle:

I always seem to call in more deer than coyotes when calling. Big does seem to want to come in and investigate
Have rattled in quite a few wt bucks but for me the most effective time has been beginning of rut. Once rut is in full swing the bucks seem to hang with their does and not leave them. 25 years ago successful with grunt calls. Seems now so many using grunt calls the deer are conditioned to ignore. That is based on my experience :twocents:
I still bring both ( grunt, rattling antlers) along when hunting
-
:yeah: Thanks to all the hunting shows that make calling look like a 100% gaurantee everybody seems to use them now...at least for whitetail. I have had success only where there is little or no hunting pressure. I'm sure this would ring true with mulies as well. :twocents:

My Buddy called in a nice Muley with the can on a late permit last year. It came right in with it.

I agree with boonerboy and ribka.

Anybody ever see Eastman's Video (http://www.elkinc.com/detail.aspx?ID=50) on "How to talk to deer" ? Pretty cool footage of them calling in deer.

Hey rem300mag...Is that how you brought in that "drop-tine" buck of yours? I thought you were going to post some better pictures of that thing? :'(
