Title: What am I forgetting?
Post by: Sneaky on October 29, 2010, 11:05:34 PM
Dad and I leave for MT in the morning for a 7 day deer hunt, weather report says it is SNOWING in the area we have scoped out!  :IBCOOL:

Been planning since summertime and thinking I have all my ducks in a row, but you know how that goes. Seems like I'm always forgetting something in the excitement.

So what am I forgetting? Lets hear some stories about times you may have forgotten something important, maybe it will make me remember.

I remember once when I just started hunting around 8 years old dad and I made it over the pass without the guns  :chuckle:

Chains, come-along or winch, tow rope, shovel........found myself wishing I had all or more of these last year turkey hunting. Didn't really forget them....just didn't expect two feet of snow in April where I was.

Good luck and drive safe.  :)

game bags.   got a great deer this year, got across the canyon & knew I had to bone it out onthe spot. Opend my pack and only had 1 bag. Left the new package onthe dryer at home.

Flashlights that work.  I never seem to need one until I take it out of my backpack at home for something and forget to put it back in.

I forgot my belt once when I was younger, I had to use bailing twine off a hay bale for the whole week. It did not work as well as a real belt. Good luck and most of all have fun.

Monkey Butt powder and Mole skin.  Nothing makes a week of hunting real long when things are red, sore and chaffing!

3 years back got across the State to suddenly remember my calls were at home. Hit Wallyworld in Colfax...nothing, nothing left...

Couple days back midway between Snohomish and Monroe I realized my License and Tag were still at home (only about 20 min back)

Hat, gloves, ammo...chapstick?

Forgot a hammer to put the tent up with this year.  At least someone else had one.  First day hiked up the mountain in my romeos, forgot to put my boots on.  My daughter filled her doe tag but at least it was an easy drag downhill.

In the mid 70s, I had an uncle who forgot his knife. I didn't have one either and when he shot a deer, we had a challenge on our hands. I don't remember how I did it but I managed to gut it out. I think I used the expanded copper from his '06 bullet.
I've forgotten the clip to my '08, flashlight, beer, game bags, and numerous things I can't recall right now.
