I'm looking at some Russell Outdoor "Cyclone" raingear does anyone use this stuff ?What do you think of it ?How durable is it and how well does it breath ?
-
Wore some last year. I like it as far as light outerwear raingear goes. Plenty durable, but breathable is a relative thing... if you're hiking in raingear, none of it's breathable!
I would buy it again if that's what you're getting at.

did it last beyond the first year ?It seems to cost alot for just a year or 2

Great question! I wore the L3 zephyr during early ML this year and got soaked. They label it as water resistant, which I guess is their lame way of saying "not water proof." Other than that it was light weight and seemed very durable. I was planning to get the cyclone for next year so please let me know what your reviews are if you get some.

This appears to be the best deal I have seen yet. Let me know if you find one better please. By the way, the Zephyr ran a little small in the jacket size so had to buy an XL. Not sure if the same is true of the Cyclone.

I was looking at some, and it doesn't say "waterproof" it says "extremely water repellant". Doesn't sound like raingear to me. I like my raingear to be waterproof. I think I'm going to give up on hunting raingear and just stick with wool.

Well Russell labels the layer 3 clothing as extremely water resistant, but the L4 Cyclone is labeled waterproof and after trying on the jacket today I would say it is definitely completely waterproof.

Is it quiet? I wonder how it breathes. I don't think it's possible to make waterproof raingear that breathes.

Any updates on this rain gedar from anyone, the Russell cyclone jacket and pants. After last season I need new rain gear, something that is gonna keep me dry.
