WDFW found three elk today poached in the Cedar River area off of hwy 105( between Raymond and Tokeland). Two elk had thier heads and horns removed and the third one was fully intact just left there. Third elk was a 5x5. Please anyone with any info contact WDFW

I would guess there's a lot of elk in that area since for some weird reason all the Weyerhaeuser land there is posted "No Trespassing." At least they didn't poach elk in a place that I, or anyone else, will be hunting. How did you hear about this?

that is a shame, but nothing new for that area. Elk have been poached in that same fashion in that area pretty consistently over the last 20 years. Use to be the heard that hung out down in the area around the North River entrance until it was pretty much wiped out.
Is that new Bobcat. I was hunting down there 2 years ago and could go in on the 105 side and make my way all the way back to 101 between Raymond and Aberdeen. there is alot of ranier and private land off 105 and I think that Ranier is leasing it out, maybe those are the signs you see?

No, it was the Weyerhaeuser land that was posted. There is one road just beyond North River that is open, and that may be the one you took over to 101. But beyond that, every road is gated and posted "No Trespassing."

I hope they catch them. One of the bulls I snap a pic of a while back. He was dandy mature bull.
Almost all land in the the North River GMU has been open to motorized access since before MF deer. It has all been open for non-motorized access accept during the fire closures. Even Green Diamond land is open. Pretty nice of them since they had some tweekers go in and cut all the support metal out from under a brand new bridge. This will cost them about 50-100k to fix. Would have been more if the bride would have failed with someone on it.
I kid you not my fellow hunters we stand to lose access to hundreds of thousands of acres because of thief's, tweekers, and unethical hunters and recreationists. >:(

FYI, I think the area that the elk were poached is WDFW land.

That's too bad. Not surprised though, there are always a few elk poached in Pacific county every year.

I took a different road. have not been down there the last couple of seasons, been hunting further east with my brother in lewis county. but, I grew up in that area and there were many other access points that could get you back in there last time I was down there.
-
Yeah I'm not saying there isn't access to get in there. It's just maybe a 3 or 4 mile stretch along hwy 105 that has several closed gates that are posted no trespassing. So you're not even allowed to park at the gate and walk in. The gate at the Cedar River was one of them, I believe.

the gate at cedar river(if your talking next to the fields) is wdfw land.
