I know people that have seen them in the blues but until last weekend I hadn't. I went up looking for some horns and jumped a cow moose in about 4' of snow. I was curious how many people on this site have seen moose in SE wa???

I have seen a moose just south of Washtucna in the middle of the wheat fields... I guess the blues would be 30-50 straight miles from where I sighted her... She could have come from Spokane area but that is even farther. Maybe the Pullman/Moscow mountain area but that's a good 80 miles... Who knows.

One more question for the moose guys, do they prefer snow??? she could have moved 1/4 mile and been out of the snow but, according to all of her tracks, she's been up in 3 to 4' for awhile now. Must like it cool with all that hair and fat????????

Yep...they love the deep snow... Not sure why?? I do know they like it cold...that hair is HOT... When we are lion hunting in N. Idaho we will find quite a few moose up TOP of the mountains where there is 3-8 feet of snow...when they could walk downhill a mile or so and be in a foot or none...?????

There are several that have been seen around Walla Walla. Was a picture in the local paper last yr. of a cow in someone's yard in College Place. There were twin moose calves killed by a train at 1:30 AM one morning last summer about 5 miles west of town. There are at least 6 that have been in the area for a couple yrs.

I live in Walla Walla and have seen a moose on 3 separate occasions, all in the Mill Creek area east of town. Rufous.
