Title: Which trophy deer would you prefer to shoot?
Post by: trophyhunt on November 09, 2010, 06:56:07 AM: tough to pass on voting for the trophy mule deer but any blacktail hunter knows the hardest thing to kill period, is a trophy class blacktail.

He just misses making "State" book. I dream of the day when I'm able to harvest another BIG blackie. A BIG mature blacktail imo is the hardest deer trophy to harvest in this state.

There's just something about em that makes me want to keep hunting them, they are a challenge I think that might be it. I had a shot opening weekend of modern this year at a monster blacktail he honestly looked like a mule deer he was so big, so what do I do I pulled up fast to get a shot and squeeze the trigger and the safety was on :'( oh well next year he will be bigger I guess :rolleyes:

I know this is a terrible picture sorry, I will try for a better one and put it on the deer forum. One thing about trying for the trophy's you all know is you have to pass up a lot of deer, some very nice ones to get a chance at the book deer. I just couldn't pass this guy on the last day, so no book deer this year but it's been the best hunting year for me. See you on the deer forum, thanks for participating in the poll, it's interesting seeing the results. I think most that hunt the west side understand the difficulty in getting a nice blacktail, I understand if I grew up on the east side why mulies would be my favorite, the blackies just look much smaller to them.

That's what I was thinking... B&C mulies common??????? That is just about the toughest book to get into.
