Has anyone ever seen or killed a bear out of a corn field before?
This was last week at one of the spots i duck and goose hunt. I've seen bears in this field the past two years and when this picture of me last week was taken the bear was around a 120 yards. My guest is around 300 to 400 pounds.

Congradultions on not taking that shot ! LOL :chuckle:

I know of a couple of people that kill BIG bears off corn fields... Good place to check are the Sweet corn that is used for Silage... Usually found off dairy fields adjacent to steep terrain.... :twocents: Farmers tend to be ok with permission also... :twocents:

Yup, been there done that! Great tasting meat if you can harvest one you won't regret it. Brother inlaw owns some property they farm corn on and they hate the bears, they'll take out acres of corn each, add multiple bears and you have major crop loss. First year he bought the property we had seen 8 different bears working his field and the neighbors. We never did get the "big one" we guessed him at 350 -400 though the family has taken a few off the property.

ANY animal that eats large quantities of corn tastes great!

Guy was attacked up here in Whatcom County after wounding one in a corn field a few years ago. I saw the gun afterwards, did a total on the scope. Had a hole all the way through his hand.

Wasnt there a story last year about a huge 500 lbs bear hit by a combine or something?
-
OK found the story again. 700 lbs bear illegally shot and the hit with a combine in Wisconsin.

That would be a hard stalk there!

That bear looks like he's about 35#!!! Not 350! But then again... its hard to tell he's 120+ yards...looks like you are about 40 yards! :chuckle:
I bet near a ripe cornfield is a GOOD place to look for an oversized bear!
