Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone hunted and/or had success in the South Rainier GMU (513). I had never hunted there but gave it a try opening weekend. Didn't know the area or where the animal hang out, but I tried near the soda springs campground and the 44 trail. Hunted there Saturday, Sunday and half of Monday. Didn't see anything (except great country that should have held elk), and didn't hear anyone shooting. Frustrated, I packed it in and headed home Monday afternoon.
Did anyone do any good in this GMU? If so, where about where you (general area, not honey holes). Is the wilderness area where I was a good spot and I missed it, or is the action more in the North of Packwood/Randle area?
I liked the area and wouldn't mind going back next year.
