Title: east side racoons
Post by: BIGINNER on November 16, 2010, 01:55:29 PM
i got a question,  i know its legal to spotlight racoons as long as there is no deer or elk modern firearm season open in the area,  but has anyone tried spotlighting racoons without a dog to tree the coon?  i killed a couple coons last week and it was pretty fun  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: , but now i'm wondering if there is a technique that people use to have better sucess in getting coons,  :dunno:  calling maybe?  :dunno: i wasn't targeting coons when i shot the two last week, i just saw glowing eyes when i was heading toward my car after coyote hunting,  so i aimed between the eyes and shot,  i didn't realise they were racoons untill iwent to pick them up...lol   (i'm joking)  i knew they were racoon before i shot   :)  just :stirthepot:  lol

OK OK I have not tried hunting them for years but when I was in highschool we used to go out to finley down by the river around all the russian olive trees there are trailes that run all over and we would spread cat/dog food and come back inthe night and we would get a couple sometimes ever a pooky fella too.  :twocents: the area I'm talking of is pretty popular if you don't know it let me know.Good luck

NOT THAT I'M AWARE OF,  YOU MIGHT BE TALKING ABOUT A DIFFERNT AREA,  THE AREA I GO TO ACTUALLY HAS A SIGN AT THE ENTRACE WITH HUNTING REGS FOR THE AREA.

YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THE SHOOTING AREA PAST HOVER PARK, THEY CLOSED DOWN THE SHOOTING RANGE,  BUT ACCESS IS STILL ALLOWED FOR HUNTING.
