Well, my group had a great elk season. 2 Bulls down out of 4 guys with a chance at a third bull. (some dumb chit named huntbear missed one.)
My buddy got a nice Margaret bull, and my brother knocked down a nice 4x5 Winston bull. (Pics coming in a few days) 3 mile pack out to the truck on the Margaret bull. 1 1/2 mile pack on the Winston bull.
We had snow, rain, sleet, wind, sunshine, lots of good food in camp, and best of all 10 days with 3 guys I would do anything for, and I know they would do the same. Sitting around the woodstove at night, bull *censored*ting, trying to dry out. Giving each other a bad time about whatever. It was and is, to me what hunting camp is all about. Good friends and family, great camp, experiencing the great outdoors, and the chance to shoot an elk.
I hope everyone else had as great a time as we did.

Cool! Glad you had a great season!
-
sounds wonderful and congrats to the guys on their bulls

Huntbear: Congratuations on a great time in the elk woods with a good group of friends. Atta boy to the two hunters who did not miss, lol hint hint In some states a miss get your shirttail cut off. Those XXL shirts are expensive ! I am happy to hear it was a great time for all, and you know I am tesing on the miss. HH in Pa ;)

It was a great hunting season. Can't wait until next year to do it all over again with you and the gang. But next year it will be you and I with the elk on the ground.

Damn, missed the pics! :dunno: :'(

I am not sure about the winston but in the margret there is a number you can call to get moterized access to retrieve a downed animal. I was able to drive within 100yrds of my elk. better than the 4 and a half mile pack it would have been.
-
The nearest road was 3 miles from the downed elk throttle. And a few years ago we called and got permission from weyerhouser security to drive into the winston to recover a elk killed the afternoon before.
-
Right on sounds like you guys had to work for that one. I like it. Congrats

Finally back to the truck with his Margaret bull.. He was a bit tired, and goofy. lmao.

This bull was not the biggest they saw in the Margaret, but he was the baddest. Chased off a bigger 7x7 about an hour before they shot him.
Brother's bull, shot at 15 ft. on the edge of the reprod. Notice it is a bit steep :chuckle: :bash: :chuckle:

-
Nice job guys way to go!!
-
Looks fun! Great bulls.

You built a wood house for a camp? Wouldnt a wall tent be cheaper and quicker?
How long does that think take to put up?
Just curious.

top pin1, it goes together and comes apart in less than an hour, and it all fits in the bed of a pick up. Very nice, and dry and warm also. We had a big wall tent... lost it in a snowstorm about 8 years ago. This thing is great in hard rain... no drips or leaks.
-
Very nice guys
-
 Nice work.

Hey was that first bull shot by During archery season we were not able to get access threw the new mt. st. hellens noble tree farm. They bought all the land up high. There was talk about giving access through it. Was wondering if you got luckier than we did.
-
congrats

No, it was rifle season. My buddy went in on the back side of the Margaret. 3 1/2 miles in.
