Title: trophy tail?
Post by: ThreeOhEight on November 17, 2010, 04:16:37 PM: So I am wondering what is the process of removing a coyote tail and preserving it for trophy purposes i.e. hanging it from my truck's antenna 8)

Post by: CAMPMEAT on November 17, 2010, 05:24:56 PM: My taxidermist has this little tool that pulls the tail off, skins it, and then he puts borax on it. Or, just cut it off and tie it to your antenna. It will be stiff because of the bones in it, but , what the heck. That's what I do.

Post by: Machias on November 18, 2010, 07:57:16 AM: Gets harder the longer they cool down. They have tail bone strippers from most fur handling and trapping catalogs, however once you do it a time or two you can remove the tailbone with a pair of pliers just as easy.

I dont know if you watched the video but it shows them using a couple of nails. I have used an open end wrench and on squirrels I use a paper towel.
