Title: 243win 95gr bt not fur friendly
Post by: demontang on November 20, 2010, 01:52:01 PM
So shot a coyote at 75yds+\- and the 95gr noslers are a little nasty for coyotes. I neck shot it and well it took half the neck/face. I was thinking they would be good but man was I wrong.

I would expect extreme explosion with a bullet like that!  I haven't used a 243 on yotes, but even the 55 grain Btips out of a 22-250 does a number on them if it's a broadside shot.

100 grain 423, blew on bones in the back hip when i hit one at 100 yards ( running shot off hand) but i left a few pieces of his hip bone on the ground.  never found him though, but + a few more game animals

yeah 243 ballistic tips are not fur friendly by any means but im glad to hear what the results are of that round, thats what i shoot for dogs and havent been able to connect on one yet.

oh and 55gr winchester silvertips arent much friendlier, hit one in the shoulder blade last winter and it was a mess

I figured since it's used on deer it would hold together a little better. I guess it did it's job cause it was drt but man it looked like something out of a horror movie cause there was blood spray every where. I'll have to shoot them up on coyotes cause I don't think I'll shot a deer

they work great on deer, my dad shot his deer with the federal 95gr nosler ballistitc tip rounds and i shot my bear with the same worked great on the deer and the bear.  the deer was hit in the shoulder blade and the bullet simply changed direction and came out the front of the neck, i hit my bear right in the forehead above the eye bullet was lodged in the spine and i recovered it too perfect mushroom shape

The 95gr noslers are leaving at 3000 fps or less I'm not sure what the 66gr hp will do tell I get time to work up a load.
