Cougars are solitary animals, with the exception of 1 to 6 days of associations during mating and periods of juvenile dependence.
A female mountain lion can come into heat any time of the year. It usually lasts about nine days.

thanks for the info, but the waterhole cougar tag wouldn't go over with my wife so well. Ive tried to convince her it is bar cougar season all year round and totally legal, but she would kill me.

lol my wife doesn't find it funny either, one thing that is similar with the two typs of "cougars" you may think your hunting them, but in reality they are hunting you hahahah :chuckle:

In Spokane they can easily be tagged at goodtymes and the star.  Season is open year round and they generally rut on the weekends.  If your on a budget show up late. That tends to be when they are ready to den up.

				no kidding about goodtymes hahaha

A true cougar preys strictly on the young.  But you also run across hybrids that will prey on many different types.

A word of caution for the older cougar hunters...Any pursuit that keeps up for more than 4 hrs,it would be wise to seek medical help..and learn the art of ring toss
