Title: Wenatchee area
Post by: PacificNWhunter on April 09, 2008, 03:36:47 PM
Well just got back from a little vacation with the wife over to Leavenworth and Wenatchee area. There was still quite a bit of snow around the 2200' of elevation, but most of the east facing slopes were bare up to around 2500. Did a couple hours of hiking up off Icicle Rd towards the Enchantments and Snow Lake area. Saw a few deer and from what I saw of them they seemed to have faired fairly well over the winter. Their a little thin in the stomach but several  of them looked like young deer so that was encouraging. Most of the food sources looked pretty well groomed (a couple of times over) but lookes like it got the deer through the worst of it. The last day we were there we went horse back riding up off of the Chumstick HWY up into the vally aways and saw a few turkeys but no deer. Looked fairly bare up that way too but we did not gain much in elevation.

Sounds like you had a great time. Good news about the deer in the area. Need to plan a time to head that direction my self.

Thanks for the update!  :hello:
