pheasant are gonna keep going down. The new corn there planting called round up kills all the insects and ground cover which screws up there nesting and farmers are planting all the way to the edges of the rounds. taking away the edge cover.

I often don't clean my birds for a few days.  Sometimes I'll hang them in my basement for a few days, or maybe stick them in the fridge. It's a very common practice in Europe, and they taste delicious.

+1, kilt some birds in south dakota last week and because they were right on the verge of being frozen left em feathers and all till we got home and cleaned em all and vaccumm packed a bunch on sunday. My buddy had reservations but when he felt how cold they were with their feathers off, gave the sniff test, and poked em and said "HOLY sh$%,these are gonna be TENDER" to which I replied "Wait till you taste em,you'll never clean birds the same day you shoot em again unless it's warm out and you don't have access to a fridge"

Not exactly related to this post, but pheasant are apparently doing great in Pasco! I have a  $hit ton of birdfeeders in my front yard and the other day there was a big male pheasant outside my front door, just kickin' it.  I wanted to open the door and have it walk right in ... maybe it saw the ones on my wall and thought it was a sanctuary...
