Are people floating it on Driftboats too?  If so, where are they putting in and taking out?

Put in at the tank bridge off Yelm Highway; take out at the Handicapped Fishing area by the train trestle.

Just watch the water levels.

Some of the best chum fishing above the trestle is when the water is high, but it is also some terrible floating water.

Do you need the Ft. Lewis permit for the tank crossing?

Only if you walk across the bridge on to Ft. Lewis.

that's not true. that whole area is fort lewis property, and you'll be subjected to the MPs if you go over there without a pass. :bdid:

You just might want to double check that info.

You used to be able to go back there whenever but since 9/11 things have changed. Back in the 80's we used to have keggers at the crossing. Boy have times changed.
