i have always hand called and want to broaden my repertoire. So for all you pros out there is the Spitfire any good or should i get one of the pricier models? if not the spitfire what would you recommend?

Spitfire is probably a good entry level e-caller. If you have the bucks, go for the Fury. Guys that have them love them. I got a Scorpion for the size of the unit mainly, but if higher volume is needed I have to plug an external speaker into it.

The spitfire is a good entry caller, much like the first FoxPro i ever owned and killed Over 100 coyotes with my first year , no brag , I hunted hard and was obsessed :drool:
If you can swing the purchace I highly recomend the Firestorm , fury or the CS 24 .
The remote range is much longer on the FS and CS models , and the volume level is much louder , You dont need alot of volume unless your calling open ground or heavily wooded areas( the woods soak up the volume) . youll get more sounds on the FS and CS 24, the remote also offers more features , pre sets and the like .

thanks for the info guys. sounds like i better get of the more expensive models it will be cheaper then buying the spitfire then upgrading the next year. i'm definetly gonna be there on Jan 8th. Thanks again guys!

I like my Spitfire. Im sure the other models are better as far as remote range, volume and number of sounds but for the money I just dont think it can be beat. It holds 24 sounds but it uses a micro SD card so you can change the card and reprogram the remote and have another 24 sounds within minutes. Range on the remote has worked for me out to 50 yards but I havnt tried any further than that. It also has a digital display so you know what sound is playing instead of just a number. It has an accessory port and if you end up needing more volume it has a speaker port.
The only thing I dont like is the volume control. It only has five settings. Level 1 is useless unless you are just using it to test while programming. I start with level 4 and switch to level 5 but that is a pretty big jump in volume between the two. I wish there was one between the two but it is not that big of deal.
To me it is a great caller but that might be because my last caller was a cheap MP3 player connected to a speaker by a 20 yard cord. :chuckle:

I like my spitfire as well. It's biggest draw back is the controller itself. Went bad after only a dozen trips to the field, Foxpro now has the unit to see what the problem is. Plus you can't tell when the mute is on or off. I agree with Kain. Big jump between volume level 4 and 5. But it does call in coyotes. :twocents:

I just got the spitfire, And am new to calling. What are best sounds for calling the dogs? All i have been able to do so far is piss off the crows. wich is scary when you get five hundred of the devils screaming over your head.

You might try the pup distress. I've had good success with that.

What area are you in? does your areas have rabbits? deer? most times around here since we do not have rabbits "much" fawn distress works well. If you have rabbits in the area, use the call that matches best. cottontail/jack what ever. Just think about the area and think what are they going to eat right now.
