And I hear he likes it...
Here's a pic of it, lets see if he chimes in...

Its a 3 Piece Longbow, like Boneaddicts... I suck at taking full length bow pics, so you'll have to settle for the closeups...

Good looking bow. Not too much gingerbread. :archer:
-
Wow, that's pretty. Is that ebony? I see some other exotic looking woods as well... Nice.
-
The main is Shedua, then some Ebony stripes around Bocote... Not too much contrast...
LOTS of carbon in that bow!
Thanks,
E
-
You shouldn't have. I knew you were working on it for me. Just in time for this season. ;)
-
Seriously, I bet he likes it......
If he doesn't, I'll take it!
-
How much did it set you back?
-
Nice work Hornseeker! Maybe after I get my daughter through college I'll be able to afford to buy one of those sweet bows. 8)
-
alot of blood sweat and tears..............
its actually for someone else on here, I just wanted to harass him.
-
I'd start now Backstraps....in a year or two they will be worth quadruple what he is charging now.
-
Thanks for the head's up Bone. But I don't think the wife would be up for that because I bought a new Hoyt two months ago. :dunno: About how much $$$$ for a bow like that?
-
Well, I'll say one thing for sure. I'm the proud owner of that masterpiece!!! Ernie went way out of his way on this one guys, it's one heck of a shooter!! It's by far the smoothest, fastest shooting shock free bow I've ever shot! When drawing this 60# bow it's like a shock absorber effect, absolutely no stacking in the least! I don't know how he did it as it far surpasses my previous longbow!
To say I'm pleased is a true understatement ! I'm grinning from ear to ear after shooting it today! If anyone is truly in the market for an awesome bow you have got to consider Ernies Sapphire line. I'm sure Boneaddict would agree 100% I can't wait to get out & shoot it some more! It's also a feather to carry & very balanced, this bow has exceeded my highest expectations. Heck, I just wanted a T/D Longbow, I will shoot this bow for years to come, that's bad news for Ernie!! (grin) Too, I agree his prices are more than fair.
I'm glad to see he had photos to share as I don't have any yet! Maybe this year I'll have a photo of it as I'm holding it kneeling with my bull !!!!
Thanks Ernie!!!

AMEN BROTHER!
-
I just watched a program on the making of long bows, pretty sweet process.
-
Too many nice bows too little money. That's definitely some nice looking work.
-
I do agree 100%. Folks probably think I am nuts, but I can't believe how fast they shoot, and how smooth they are, AND how light they are to carry through the woods compared to my compound. Also SILENT. Know what a twig sound like on a metal riser of that compound. :yike:
I want another after I saw that one elknut, but not sure I want to put the one I have down now. I'd like to get one like yours with an Ivory toothed inlay from my NM bull.
Its all about the combination of woods and choices of woods for each component I think that makes these things so fast. Light strong woods for the limbs, and strong solid for the Risers. I'm probably borderline abusing the site plugging this bow, but its awesome, not to mention its a piece of artwork. I was in shock of how well I could shoot with it. its kind of intimidating at first, but YOWZER!
-
Backstraps, you'll have to take it up with Hornseeker about prices. He's not a sponsor on here, or at least not yet, and I don't want to abuse the site by selling. Right now I fiugre he is showing off handywork and there are a couple guys on here with it and are bragging about their bows. Kinda no different than bragging about your Mathews. I tell you what though. There is a process in this market. You start out making the bows and you perfect your line and as your name becomes known the price goes up. If you are known for your work and are in the field awhile they become as much as custom art pieces or rifles. Ernie has got his name out there and his bows are the best. You guys ought to know out of my 5,000 posts that I don't really endorse anything. Fact, most of the time I'm anti that. In this case I am as proud as a father of his newborn child to own one of these.
-
O.K. now i am curious and interested all in one.... So what does one of those sweet things go for??? I havn't bow hunted since high school, i have an old compound, but would like to try it again... But looking for something new...
-
Nice Bow Congrats!!! I want one!!! :)

Bones is right!! Ernies time & quality he puts in his bows are amazing, he desrves recognition here. You have to consider there are lots of great looking trad stuff out there, but where Ernies bows shine is when you shoot them, that's where he seperates himself! I'm glad it was mentioned how "quiet" they shoot, I'd forgotten that. So I went & shot it again, it's a mere whisper on release, now that's cool! I am a Sponsor here & I am plugging his bows, simple because he deserves it & any who does get one will truly apprecieate it & that makes me look good too !! (grin) Most custom bows start in the 700.00 range & run into 1200.00-1400.00 range. I've looked into them for sometime now. Ernies are not that much, I will say that. here's his website! http://www.sapphirearchery.com/ (http://www.sapphirearchery.com/)check him out!
PM me anyone who'd like to know anything further on the bow I have!

I fixed your link. You had his e-mail instead of his website. Ditto on what he said about pricing, but it won't be long before they are up there.
-
Thanks for the compliments all... it tickles me to death to see someone as happy as Paul is with their new bows... I actually had a hard time shipping that one off...it just fit me perfectly...
I just signed on a sponsor, so I can answer questions and such about them... Like they said, my bows, since I"m a newby to the trade, are a bargain right now... to make any money on them, I'll have to jack the prices up a bit...but they'll still be reasonable for a long time..
Check out my site if you get a chance. It needs updating..I have to get Bones NM Elk pic on their asap... ;)

I'm tickled with it and all I saw were three pics. We are going to have to talk some more Ernie, I think you need to make some more dust for me. I'd like to get one just about like it, or very similiar. I have an incling for some dark woods. Then throw in the Ivories as accent. I think Ray said it earlier, so many bows so little time or money or something like that. I need another one like I need a hole in the head, but they are better than fine art as far as I am concerned. I'd almost like to retire the one I am using and try another one. It shoots so damn good though that would never happen. A bow for each day of the week. : ) WELCOME as a sponsor.
-
Heck Bone... you know I"m game...and with the publicity you get me, you know you'll get a deal..
The "new" bow will shoot every bit as good as your old one... no doubt. Email me with details! :0)
Have you told everyone here you are hunting MOntana this year! WoooHooo!
-
I need to try to get my order in before Elknut lets any of his friends see it or his son shoot it, as I can imagine there will be a line-up after that. I'm looking for one very similiar in appearance to his. My size as before at 31" which by the way is pushing 80 pounds everyone. It helps I'm the size of a moose. There is a reason why this things sends these arrows faster than rockets. I'll get to you in private to talk woods, but I am really looking for a dark tone with it again with the elk Ivory inlays if possible.
-
Did you mean to say look like a moose? :chuckle:
-
Better be careful, I'm about as cantankerous as one for sure. :)
-
Bone, thanks!! Sometimes I'm such an air-head!!! Yes, Ernie shall be getting more business coming his way!!! (grin)
Ernie, congrats on the Sponsorship, it was a good move!!! Too, Ray is a great guy & has a very nice Site here!

That is a really nice looking bow, looking forward to see it laying next to some ivory in the near future!
-
Hornseeker, that is a great looking bow. Great job on some awesome craftsmanship. Can't wait to see what you can take down with that bow Elknut.
-
Elknut you just had to do it to me didn't you?
-
Yep, I can't wait to get out there & do some Deer & Elk hunting with it either!! (big grin)
Bone, you didn't, did you??? You ordered another didn't you?????? Does this mean your other ones for sale? (grin) NOT!!

what a bitchin bow. if i had the money, i would get one of those bows, or a howard hill.
till then, im still shooting my pse kudu. not even in the same league im afraid, but it still shoots arrows for me.
wish i havent of gave my longbow to my brother. he ended up pawning it b/f going to the sand country. it was a navajoe stick.
-
YEP! In about 3 months you guys will be drooling over my new bow....in about 5 months you'll be seeing it in some nice field photos I hope. I couldn't stand it. That bow looked awesome. I wanted one with some darker woods just to spice up the photo album. You should always have a spare, and it would be way easier to have a spare trad bow instead of going back and forth from Trad to compound.
and no way would that baby be sold. ;)
I learned along time ago not to sell my guns or bows. I've sold one gun and it was the worse mistake in my life, or at least at this moment feels like it.
Hornseekers going to hook me up with some more of that exotic wood.
-
Since I just said I wouldn't ever sell any guns.....Mountain, yo may feel different.....offload that 30 carbine and you could have 2 of these bows, or one and several tanks of gas to get back to MT.
-
Bow Whore..............
-
most of my hardware is in arkansas.. long drive. i do have a few commeratative 94 winchesters i would part with, but im afraid the carbines will stay with me.
-
Yep...Bone dropped the hammer... ONe thing I always know...if I REALLY needed to sell a bow... old Boneaddict would be there for me! :0)
I also hope to see that bow next to a dead critter Paul...and your new one too Bone...
Man, I gotta get in the shop..

While I have hornseeker and Elknut on here and he has been doing this longer than me, I could use some bow quiver options or opinions. I still haven't found one that I like, course my only option has been at the Sportsmans. I would have to buy one without seeing it, like either a special company or Cabelas, and even Cabelas is pretty limited in choices. ANyhow....I used one that I had attached to my pack, but I don't like it. I wanted one to put on the bow.........I have a gift certificate to our local shop, so might go in there to see what they can rachet up.
-
i like the selway quiver. it slides onto the limbs. but they are kinda pricey.. mine was 80 bucks at sportsmens in silverdale
-
Bone way to go, you'll love his new ones!!!! Like MountainWalk338 I too like the line of Selway Quivers, this is what I have on my bow, they slide right down the limbs & stay right there rock solid. No damage to the limbs at all & I just removed them from my last longbow where it was on there for 2 years. Everything looks perfect!!
Unlike Bone, I'm a one bow person, I can't keep 2 in the house, I have to have total dedication to one & one only, no room for sharing shooting time, I need to master the one & stick with it like a loyal friend!! (grin)
Anyone who's looking for a good used one PM me, it's got decent mojo going, I've taken 2 bulls in as many years with it. It's a one piece 60# @ 28" Not to worry Ernie, any looking for a used no doubt don't want spend the dough on a new one!! (grin)
ElkNut1
-
Thanks for the information guys. Thats what I am looking for. I was afraid of rub marks on my limbs. Does it absorb any energy from your bow do you think or effect your shot in any way except the fact your bow might be a bit heavier.
polybowlygomy...polybowlygomist.new words for the day
-
i think it reduces shock some,, its not too heavy,, it might rob you of 5 fps or so, hardly a big deal. no rub marks on my bow either.
-
The Selway is great, I use a Selway Bolt on... the Thunderhorn made by Dwayne Jessop in the Bitterroot also, is a great (and identical) quiver, but a little "fancier"...Super nice looking Doug, I'd recommend it. I could even order it for ya if you want.. no biggie though...
The bolt on is great and will not take ANYTHING from the bow.. the slide on, depending on how deep you have it slid on, COULD lower bow performance some, but I haven't tested this theory yet... I'll give it a go pretty soon. I think in general, if you push them down low on the limb, you wont even lose 5fps.. maybe 2...??
They mess the balance of the bow up a bit, but its nothing you cant get used to...if you are going to hunt with it on....do all your shooting with it on, cause it will change how the bow sits in your hand.. The quiver, loaded with 2500 grains of arrows is all on the right side of the bow...so the bow will naturally want to "cant" over a bit.
They do "steady" the bow some though...adding mass... and if a bow is shocky, (which mine aren't) they will help absorb some shock..
No prob Paul... Niels bow is great and anyone looking for a used LB will be extrememly happy with it... they are good shooters no doubt!

Do you ike the two point bolt on? (thunderhorn)
-
Yes, I put my quiver on the limbs & about an inch from the riser itself. My only concern with it on the limb bolts is that they're pretty close together, I don't like the idea of the arrow fletch end of it hanging below the rubber nubs too far. It looks kind of off. Presentation is everything to the elk you know!! (grin)
ElkNut1
-
Oh yes, I do know. speaking of....I enjoyed your hat contest on your website. :)
-
Guess which guy won?? (grin)
ElkNut1
-
I liked number one and number 5. Number one probably looked more sharp, #5 looked like a hat thats been there and back.
For those of you wondering what in the heck we are talking about.....http://www.elknut.com/ (http://www.elknut.com/)
-
You know...the more I think about it, i like hte slide on better too...
Thunderhorn also makes the "boa" and it is a strap on... really like it too...maybe best of all...
E
-
I'll take a gander. For some reason the bolt on suits my fancy at this point. :dunno:
-
They are all I use (the bolt on) but I like Pauls line of thinking about the quiver being more spread out...
-
SO WHO WON the hat contest?
-
#-5 Won!! #-4 Was a very close 2nd! I too liked #-1 that's a great hat, at least one I'd wear!!
ElkNut1
-
THAT WAS a good hat.
Now I knwo at least wher eI can find your videos or Cd's. I'm going to eventually get the collection.
ERnie, go ahead and hook me up with a quiver that matches the bow when you get an idea of what colors you are going to do with it. I'd prefer the two point bolt on I think and I don't want snake, but like contrasting leather. DANG I am excited about this one. I'll get those elk Ivories to you with some money. That mammoth Ivory looked HOT! You can probably do all sorts of special stuff with it without breaking the bank. Seemed like there were alot of colors as well from black and white to the common browns to even that red for some color. WOW!
-
Hey guys, check out my post in the SPonsor section... :0)
I am excited to build it Doug... I liked that hat Jr. was wearing..that would have been my choice.. (with the turkey)
-
make it a looker, never know, might be onthe cover of Eastmans this next year. :)
