Title: Free digital call sounds
Post by: ouchfoss on December 11, 2010, 10:12:52 AM
Ive been looking around on the net as well as Youtube to see what I can find for downloadable predator call sounds whether they are MP3, .wav or what and came across the Western rivers site and found its got a ton of FREE (sort of) call sounds in MP3 format. It says that you cannot use them unless you own a Western Rivers caller but theres nothing stopping you from downloading the files so ................ :dunno:
I searched to see if someone had already posted this before and I couldnt find it so I figured I'd let everybody know.

With all the gold albums out there that are downloadable, I can't believe you would be scared of a predator sound  :dunno:

I dont want anybody to get in trouble so I guess nevermind about my first post, unless you own one of their calls. Since BTKR posted that thread about how to get stuff of Youtube, I have been going crazy getting all kinds of sounds so I guess you not missing out on much by taking stuff from Western rivers. Last week I got a whole bunch of goose calls that I tried out on my waterfowl hunt the other day. Still one call I cannot find is a mother grouse squacking when she has chicks nearby. I would have to think that would be a good for yotes and bobcats.

Yep dont use electric calls for waterfowl, turkeys (any game bird) or deer.

Correct, you can not use ecalls for game birds or waterfoul, but you can use those sounds for predators. KPLU had a lot of bird podcasts with great sounds and with Audacity you can create some pretty good sequences.

Here is a list of sites that have free sounds.

Those are some great resources billy. Just a warning if you are downloading sounds be sure to play them through your caller and not just on your computer before heading afield. I have had a few that sounded great on the computer but came out terrible when downloaded to my caller. I am not sure if it is a corruption issue or a formatting issue. While this only happens about 5% of the time it is enough to ruin a stand if you are unaware of it.

Absolutely!

Corruption or file format issues can result anytime when downloading anything. Sometimes it as easy as re-downloading with less programs running on your pc.

Most other sound quality issues are due to the way the original sound was recorded and any conversions before it was uploaded to the web.

You can use Audacity to fix many substandard sounds.
