How far off the road would u go to hunt and how far back from the gun range would u go for them yotes?
-
There's a gun range out there ???
-
I think they are referring to the area up the ellensburg pass road behind the state green dot sign. People use that area for target shooting. I'd say as far as you can walk and stay on public land.
-
I assume he is tlaking Sheep Company. Coyotes come this side of the gun range so anywhere. It gets lots of pressure and the coyotes don't tend to stand there and watch. Carry chains, and a shovel. Avoid the deep mudholes that aren't froze.
-
Yeep I was refering to sheep company rd out in selah.. good iidea enspecially wth this snow storm
-
I've shot a few right after the cattle gaurd so any where. Early morning is all I can say and if you get stuck call and I'll come get u out;). O and stay out of bell tell road and roza road now unless you have a pretty well built rig.
-
I got a foot+ of fresh heavy wet stuff at my house last night. Be careful for some of those holes out there.
-
Dang that's a lot.. ya ill prob hold up a bit till some of it melts
-
Lol naches, them roads out there is always tore up
-
A foot plus? I live in selah and we dont have nowhere near that :dunno:
-
Head north. The snowbelt crosses just outside past huntzinger. Theres only 2 inches in Yakima. When the temp was banging around 32, one degree makes a huge difference in snow accumulation.
-
:hello:
We're on Huntzinger just off Sheep Co. road . Had 12" here. I see coyotes from the back deck a lot. Stay on the old Durr road and do a little hiking . I have shot coyotes right at the shooting range.

Thats crazy i think down in selah we got something like 5 or 6 inches. Its almost gone now tho :'(
-
It may be crazy but that's the way it is. I am at 1450' elev. and I'm betting Bone is at 1550 or 1600'. Selah is only 1000'.
Can be 10 -15 degrees difference in temp also.

That's awsome, great info guys.
-
What a frickin mess out here. I probably wouldn't try it until she freezes. A guy gets in that gumbo with this snow YIKES
-
Yea we had a good 9" here last night but it's melted down to 4or less now. I'd stay clear or the roads tell it freezes or you might be there for a bit now
-
Haha ya them roads are no joke. When they r bad they are bad
-
Yea I've almost be in a bad spot with 37" tires and lockers out there in the snow a few times. I stay away if it's muddy I sank to china once when I didn't think it would be that bad
-
Lol that's bad, I was out there this mornin.parked at the lt wildlife sign. Was there bout a hr or so, saw a cow elk n someones pasture then cross into the land part. Was pretty cool.
-
Yea there are a lot of them out there right now
-
I knew they were out there but never seen a elk there just n the canyon
-
I got to walk home on Christmas eve once out there. LOL Man the wife was pissed when I walked through the door late. She didn't bother to notice I got home without bringing a truck home. It had snowed over a mud hole that had a 2 inch of ice crust onit. all 4 tires broke through and there I sat. High centered in a mud pit. Chained up.....nothing. Not like there is a tree to hook to to wicnh yourself out.
At times, you can see 1,000 head of elk out there. Rarely any bulls of any size. but still cool.
-
Lmao bone.. got stuck n the frog ponds? Wow that's awsome that elk come down this low... I bet the mrs was pissed!
-
Lol had kind of the same thing happen. Broke though and cut a break line so when I came out I couldn't stop! I ended up having a truck hook up to me and used him as a break but I would just drag him untell I put it in N to stop. That was a long night
-
Lol I remember there was 5 of us. Right where people shoot the hand guns the yotas clutch went out, then had one guy try n blow up his ford couldn't do it at the frog ponds. Went to a diff location, someones alternator went out, then we all headed back down n a guy went over the edge of the cattle guard n poped a tire. Lol 5 rig went n and 2 came out that night, and it was winter so peeps had to ride n the back of the beds. God that was a interesting night lol.
-
lmao Ive gone on a few recovery missions out there. :chuckle: Ive never be broke and not made it out yet (knock on wood)
-
I buried a 4x4 nissan pick-up to the bumpers out there called for help. help stuck his truck, wound up w/ 3 other trucks pulling us out.
-
Demontang just jinxed himself JDB. I shoudl get a physical description so I don't shoot him when he is crawling over the fence for help.
-
Lmao!
-
Lol yea I normaly have someone I can call if the worst happens:)
-
Its more fun living life without a cellphone. You just have to make sure you have a good pair of boots.
-
Lol yea had to walk out when I was little.
-
Went up Durr from Ellensburg last night. Got pretty close to the towers but it was sheer ice. My friend was driving his new truck and his chains were not the right size. Had to back down for half a mile. Pretty hairy.
-
I slid backwards down the pitch on the other side of the creek once. That made me pucker.
-
Crap stil bad out there hunh, well shoot. Looks like I'm goin snowboardin for a bit lol
-
Lol that's where 5psi and lockers pulls you out. I've been nervous going up that side a few times it can be nasty
-
Since when did they put up signs for wildlife vehical permits at the gun range? Today I had to go past them houses to the right to re sight in my rifle. Got er at 250yrds and 6in low at 300yrds. Just waitin for my payday for more ammo tomorrow n head out xmas eve day and xmas day for them dogs
-
Lol don't know I never use the range. The roads out farther are nasty right now.
-
Ahh well crap
-
Wow that's awsome that elk come down this low...
My folks live on Gibson rd. and back in about '91 my mom watched a guy shoot an elk across the street from the house!
-
Yea I keep a eye out for people like that.
The road I was on noone had been on since it snowed. I broke throw some ice and well it was hard for my tires to break the ice going forward but now I know where that one hole is. The main road isn't bad just ice and mud
