Was looking at some gun review sites and I found some reviews on Hi-Point handguns. Made in USA and HOLY SMOKES CHEAP!
http://www.lowpriceguns.com/browse.php_33 (http://www.lowpriceguns.com/browse.php_33)
So I know you get what you pay for.... But these are made in the USA and while most reviews I have found have all agreed that they are VERY ugly, and have No bells and whistles, that they are just what they are designed to be.. A low priced gun that goes bang when you pull the trigger.
Does anyone on here have any experience with these handguns? I hadn't heard of them before... The price makes me leery if I would use it for a carry weapon, as I want something Uber dependable, but who knows?

don't know much about them either, but heard that they have a really good manufaturer warranty

I have some buddies who both own high points. I make fun of them because they bought cheap sh!t. One has a 40 and a 9 and the other has 2 9's. like you said not pretty and no extra's. I have put some rounds through my buddies 40 it seems to shoot ok. It jams quite a bit. Like after 2 clips. It happens like every sixth or seventh round. So if you in a jam and need some protection I would not trust it. but a side arm to carry hunting I would use it.

i have 1 in 9mm, goes off every time i ask it to, probably put 500 rounds through it this year :dunno:

truck gun, would make a piss poor carry gun, but its an extremely reliable hunk of metal that goes bang everytime, my dad has one in 45. he keeps in the truk all the time, goes bang and packs a punch and where only out 100 bucks if it gets stolen.
-
The Highpoint .45 is the best halibut gun ever, it's a .45acp, you only need it to go bang once so jamming is ok, if the gun does jam and you haven't killed the fish you can beat it into submission quickly with the gun. If you drop it over the side it's no great loss although it would make a fine lake anchor and a fair light current stream anchor without adversely affecting it's normal function.

Sounds like it works better than my Beretta.

my uncle has one in .45. Ugly as hell would not pack it myself but hes had no problems with his.

What kind i have a couple of 92's you have to keep em real wet or they dont like to feed properly just oil er up real good.

If your getting it for a carry weapon, I'd save a little more and upgrade to another manf.,
They may work, but you want that guarantee that it will when you really need it
-
I got an older model 45 I,ve shot it for 3 or 4 years and i think it has jammed maybe 3 times I am pretty pleased with it,actually thinking about a 40.ya can get 3 for the price of 1 :dunno:
-
i wont own one due to the fact that it nearly take three hands to field strip one.
cleaning my old one was a chore and took two people the drive out the pin holding the slide on.
here a torture test of one.

All the gang bangers in Tacoma agree that they are the best "drop gun" around.
