I just purchased a Weatherby Vanguard now I need to put a scope base on it, are they mostly interchangeable? should I get a one or two piece? are the screws mostly the same thread or can I get some from the hardwear store? what should I get? is Millett a good brand?
Thanks.

Go with the Leopold scope mounts. Is your rifle a long or short action? I hand fun mounting a scope on a 257 wby vanguard all worked out perfect but a longer tube on the scope would have been great. You wont be disappointed with your vanguard.

It is a 300 wsm

My vanguard wears a two piece Leupold base.
-
Do I need to get bases designed for Weatherby or are they all the same?
-
rem 700 and howa 1500 are the same as the vanguard. were I to scope my own rifle, I would do it up with talley one piece ring/bases. the ring and base is one piece and there is nothing to go haywire, plus they are as light as they get and none are measureably stronger......and the price is right too.

Mine is in 300 win and I have the two piece, seems to work good for me. One suggestion dont let Cabelas bore sight it for you. Mine was so far off it took one box of ammo just to get it on paper. Then another box to hone it in. Just a suggestion. You will love the gun. I have only shot targets this year but an elk trip is in the books for me next year. Good luck.

My .223 Howa (1500 action) Axiom heavy-barrel wears Burris Xtreme Tactical Steel 2-Piece Bases and Warne rings. I really like the bases because you can reverse-mount them and they have more than one (Picatinny) mounting point... gives you a lot more flexability than traditional 2-piece bases.

Thanks for the input guys, I ended up with 2 piece Leupold Bases and I will be boresighting it myself ;)

See you already got something, but for those who may be considering something in the future.......these are a great setup.......

Same for me..........the absolute best setup in my opinion. Real quality and simplicity as far as mounting scopes. :twocents:

That's what I've got on my Vanguard.

WARNE
Bullet proof.
DNZ is cool
leupy makes good products.
whichever one fits your scope to the rifle to your head the best. might have to try a couple and return a couple for the perfect fit.
Different scopes have different tube leingths, objective diameters, and eyer relief whil rifles have different stock leights, action leingth, and barrel contour.
then again a lot of people just throw something together and call it good. :chuckle:

I try to use Milett, the ones with the orange container backround. They come bases and rings, Leupold style. Half the price of leupold.

you should really get some EAW Schwenk Montage swing mounts.
