Man, the best thing that has happened to our area is Cabelas going in. After they went in I've found more deals in Spokane area than ever. I don't make a shopping list when I drive to town, but I always keep an eye open for pricing etc. White Elephant, Sportsmans Warehouse, Joes, Swedes etc. have deals that Cabelas doesn't PLUS I don't have to drive the extra miles.
I know there was concern when Cabelas went in that they would drive prices up, but so far I've just benefited from their move to Post Falls. Don't get me wrong if I can't find it locally I'll drive there just like the rest, but so far I've found that not to be necessary.

I really like the fact that it is 5 miles from my house :)
-
I have found that I can for the most part get better deals and save more money at Cabelas than anywhere else! Unless it's something small, but for the most part cabelas is the place to save! Atleast the one in lacey! Just my :twocents:

I thought living 5 miles from the lacey cabelas was going to put me in bankruptcy but thier prices are so high I only shop when they have what I want on sale. Anything that Cabelas and Sportsmans have, Sportsmans will be cheaper.
-
Some of those shops are so far away I rarely go. It is cheaper for me to have things shipped via the internet many times...

I've noticed that the Cabelas in Lacey has many items marked up higher than they are advertised in their catalog. I've brought this up a couple times when buying stuff from them and they've always honored the catalog price. Just FYI.

Hey thanks for the tip. I'll remember that!

I will say I have noticed that!! I usually get up to the register and wait for it to ring up at a different price and then tell them what it says in their catalog! get's em' flustered everytime!! haha And I used to work as sportman's in federal way, and I can honestly say that the two store are priced the same on almost everything give or take a few items here and there!

I was told that the Cabelas stores and the Cabelas cataloge sales were actually different companies but the stores will honor the mail order prices and deals. The other cool thing is if you have your cataloge orders sent to the store, shipping is free.

Having Cabelas close is nice. I do go there for items that I cannot get anywhere else.
One thing I'd like to make folks aware of (first let me say I have no affiliation with them)....
Sportsman's Warehouse in Spokane has gone way, way above and beyond in their support of local outdoor org chapters (DU, NWTF, Mule Deer, SCI..... etc). I'm fairly active in these events and somewhat tied in w/ some of the local chapters. I can say that their participation with these orgs as well as supporting youth hunting is so far and away above other retailers that it isn't even close. Please keep this in mind when making purchasing decisions. I'm not at all saying don't shop at Cabelas or that Sportsman's is the end all. Heck sometimes their lack of service/knowledge frustrates and piss me off at times. But, in the end when I see these guys putting their money and time into things that are helping the average hunter it really makes me want to support them even if it costs me a small % more.

I agree with that whole-heartedly, I teach hunter education and Sportsman's working with SCI and others gave every kid that graduated last year a free hunter orange vest along with gift certificates. Sure those vests are only a few bucks and it has their logo on it but they gave away hundreds if not thousands.

The best thing about Cabela's coming to the Lacey area is that now all of the other sporting stores ( Sportsmans/Joe's) are having some great sales to get you there....Love the competition. I have bought lots over the years from Cabela's catalogs but I wasn't that impressed with the stores "local type" sporting tackle and thought it was definitely overpriced.........Les
