Title: Daughters play date for future hunters
Post by: jbeaumont21 on December 18, 2010, 01:45:28 PM
My oldest daughter who turns 5 this spring is showing some real interest in hunting already so I was wondering if there are any other fathers out there with a daughter around the same age that would like to get together for a play date or an outing in the woods.  We live in Vancouver WA so if you're not too far away and are interested in getting together after the holidays please send me a PM.
Thanks,
Jesse

Well I posted this a couple years ago with no luck so I thought I would try throwing out there again. I'm 36 and my daughter will be 7 in March. I am an avid elk, turkey, duck & goose hunter and she has been on a few elk and turkey hunts with me.  The offer still stands if anyone is interested.

Hang in there jbeaumont21. You  may want to post up another thread (or modify this one...) with a different title to draw more specific attention:

IE: Dad/36 w 7yr old daughter looking for other families to hunt with... (or something like this...)

Good for you for looking for companion hunters for your daughter.

I take my daughter out with me.  She is 5 and her brothers 7 & 9 also head out and hunt with me.  It keeps you busy.
You should get your daughter involved in the 4-H program.  Other kids her age with parents that hunt.  I know the 4-H does a monthly shoot up at Wolverton Mountain Gun club.  The club is located between Lake Merwin and Yale Res.  The back hwy heading to Yacolt, Battle Ground.

I been taking my son who is 12 and two daughters 11 and 7 out since they could walk. They fish I bait and unhook the fish and they love to go grouse hunting along with deer and elk. Daughter likes to cut the legs off the grouse and save them?? We all always have a great time out even if we don't bring anything home.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I will take the subject change suggestion under consideration. Also, I am going to look into the 4-H thing.  Sounds like a good plan. It's funny, I have two hunting buddies but neither of them seem to get their daughters into the hunting and not sure if they plan to.  I have two daughters, 6 and 4 and they both seem very interested in hunting, fishing and the outdoors so I will encourage it as long as they do.  I thought it would be neat to meat some other like minded fathers and daughters and thought this would be the place to find them. We'll see.
