For those at 15+, how many total??? If you don't want to give away your areas, just throw up a number.
-
For me it was 20, if I counted right. Ten on the westside and ten east.
-
hoko, clearwater, coyle, oly, kitsap, dickey, sol duc. thats about it
-
Here's my list: Skookumchuck, Deschutes, Minot Peak, Capitol Peak, Satsop, Skokomish, Lincoln, Pysht, West Klickitat, East Klickitat, Mayview, Aladdin, Kelly Hill, Pasayten, Alta, Entiat, Mission, Teanaway, Alpine, Taneum.
-
Interesting the variety. Would be interesting to see how many more have eastern Wa. areas, as well as western Wa. areas on their list, alpine vs. lowland vs. weapon restricted areas, etc..
-
high and low, western wa only, rifle, shotgun and bow
-
I've only hunted modern, though I threaten to buy a bow every year, still may this year I definitely want to try it eventually before I get much older.

101, 105, 108, 111, 113, 117, 121, 242, 243, 246, 250, 257, 335, 336, 460, 490, 501, 503, 505, 506, 513, 516, 520, 530, 550, 554, 572, 574, 572, 578, 603, 615, 618, 621, 633, 635, 636, 642, 648, 651, 663, 666(the number of the beast :o), 667, 672 and 673. Grand total of 45 units that I have hunted deer in. Most of it was spent in 101, 636 and 667. Man, those were the good old days when gas was cheap and i had al the time I wanted in the woods!
-
I've hunted in about half the units Polarbear has. My overall fave is 101.
-
wahluke, ritzville, almota, desert, beezley, moses coulee, harrington, alpine and alladin
-
oh almost forgot quilomene, kahlotus, ringold, and cowiche i thought i was in the 5-10 but i guess im in the 10-15 range, but seriously hardcore hunting has mostly been in wahluke and ritzville, other than the desert tag i drew
-
PBear takes the prize for the most, no surprize there. I guess I don't have a favorite at this time, but latest preference for blacktail has been 667, 474 and 505. Lot's of good country out there. It's easier to list my least favorite's, probably Taneum and Manastash only because of crowds and very low success rates.
-
4-5 units on the west side and two on the east.
-
I said 505, it's actually 510 I hunt frequently.
-
I'm with PolarBear. I've stuck my foot in just about every legal GMU in the past 25+ years of deer hunting. Wish I could say I had 25 deer to show for it. Made a lot of mistakes trompin around so much and now have learned to settle in to 4 distinct GMUs. Would like to hunt Desert with a rifle and would love to see the Tacoma Watershed unit once.

A friend of mine drew that the first year they had the draws. He was allowed to take 1 person in with him each day and had to wait at the gate in the morning to be let in. He said there were some pretty increadible animals in there. He was stopped one day in there by a game cop that checked his credentails. After clearing the interigation the gamey asked him if they had seen much that day, my friend told him he hadn't that morning yet and asked if he had any tips. The gamey looked at his watch and said "about this time I would go up the road so far turn here, turn there and park, get out go up the hill to the right, cross the creek and check out the clearing through the trees" Well he did that and sure as $hit thats where he dropped his elk. The gamey and the city really just wanted the hunters in there to get their animals and get out, pretty much as quick as they could.

I worked back in there a couple times when I was with Public Works, didn't see critters, but a lot great clearcuts and deer sign.

westside
448, 460, 466, 667, 505, 520, 503, 516, 530, 636, 651, 652

Great point. There's something to be said for really getting to know an area by hunting it year after year after year. I have a hard time getting over the "grass is greener" thought process and have spent lots of time always trying to find better areas when I'd be better off sticking to one area. But I do enjoy seeing new country and to me that's part of what I love about hunting. I've seen lots of country that I never would have otherwise seen. Besides, success isn't always just in how many animals you can kill. But if you really want to kill something, stick to one area and one area only, and get to know it like the back of your hand.

Ive hunted mostly all Eastern units, And Would have to say my best are , 130,139 124 and 113. But Im not saying the Desert unit wont be a fav when I finally draw a tag for it.

Westside: Puyallup, Mashel, White river, Stormking, S. Rainier, Packwood, Lewis river, West Klickitat, Siouxin, Battle ground, Winston, Mossyrock, Skookumchuck, Olympic, Clearwater, Wynoochee, Satsop, North river, Minot Peak, Fall river, and Lincoln.
Eastside: Grayback, East Klickitat, Kahlotas, Ritzville, Harrington, Beezley(my favorite), Big Bend, Saint Andrews, Moses Coulee, Umtanum, Nile, Little Naches, Teanaway, Entiat, East Okanogan, Sherman(2nd favorite), and Huckleberry.
38 total, and counting! One problem.........the amount of bucks killed does not equal the number of units! :dunno:

That's about where I'm at also. I like to be able to scout out an area before the opener, can't do that effectively for more than a 2-4 areas per season. The last 4 years I've stuck with those same 2-4.

spent almost all my time in gmu 142 (almota). hunted a bit in vail, minot peak, and the capital forest as well. used to ride along with my grandpa all the time up in Champion. Is that place still open and around? i havent heard anything about it since my grandpa stopped goin.

West Side - 653, 654
East Side - 272 (primary), 136, 204, 117, 124, 127, 139, and 142.
Every unit was hunted only because I couldn't get to 272 for lack of time or money, or in the early years a drivers license.

15+
11 Eastside

thats alot better then me. with 7 people in the family hunting group growing up. i always was the one wanting to go for the trophy. so i struck out ALOT!!! passing up animals every single year starts to get to you when those big boys just dont come into range :bash:
-
3 for me 448, 460 ,454 You can hunt for just about everything in those 3, works for me
