Title: What is a big Roosevelt?
Post by: grundy53 on December 27, 2010, 05:54:48 PM: i know for a lot of people (me being one of them) any Roosevelt bull is a trophy. but i'm bored and was interested in finding out how broad of a spectrum there is with people on this sight. Sooo here it goes Score wise what do you consider a big ROOSEVELT bull?

SHoot, I have seen some incredibly massive and just huge Rosies that would only go 230-240... and some that would go 280+.... but then there are the freaks that go 350.... Yeah... they are BIG!!!

Its not the kill, its the chase that makes the hunt ... the kill last a few moments the chase lasts all year. :twocents:

I wish I could help you more. Never carried a camera in the woods until just recently. Most my pictures are in storage :( I have some decent archery kills but no good pictures.

Decent bull. Scored 245, I think:

Most hunters want trophy class animals but keep watching tv expecting the state to provide easy trophies animals for them. :dunno:

There are true trophies to be harvested but trophy class animals die of old age rather than at the hunters hand.... get it.

The chase or hunt never ends to harvest a good bull or buck, a trophy hunter puts in countless hours studying maps and gathering information and scouting... trophy class animals rarely get taken by chance. A true trophy mark for elk and deer starts at the record book, minimum scores usually dictate a trophy.

Good luck with your chase... hope all your trophy ambitions are met.

nice bulls...i especially enjoyed the shot palcement on that black powder bull...looks like a sinus infection gone bad

Yeah, my buddy learned his lesson about Powerbelts. First shot cartwheeled that poor bull but it went on and on. Here is more of the story if you're interested.

If not interested, the first shot hit high in the shoulder and penetrated a whopping 3 inches. No bone, just meat and it didn't do anything but cause pain :( It was a drawn out deal that was not good, but lessons learned.

Actually had 3 nice bulls in our pasture one morning, one was a 3x3 and the others were 5x5 and one was a real unique 6x4.

Damn i'd be careful advertising that seems to be thats about 95 % of the roadside decor in the woods :yike: :yike: ;)j/k

lol down where i hunt elk thats pretty much what 95% of the people drink. :chuckle:
