Drove up to Spokane to coyote hunt and spend time with family. I went out this morning- first set I spotted 4 going away. I got up and two more busted me that were coming in. :bash: Second set I sat there for an hour and nothing so I got up and headed to the mini-van. I got over the last hill with the van in sight about 200 yds away and a coyote runs out of the rocks from under me. Three shots later and he is still running. :bash: Drove up the road and parked to warm up. I spotted three playing about a half mile out. Then one caught my eye in the field in front of me. I slide out the door and set up. Broadside shot at 300yds and I missed. twice. :bash: Left that property and did one more set but nothing so I did some shooting. Five shots into a popcan at 200yds. Didn't miss one of those shots though. Going out again tomorrow and I hope I have better luck.

he said minivan!
please, stop educating our coyotes!
-
bummer

I went out Christmas eve and also missed myself...
Called in 3 dogs that all came in together. Lost sight of 1 and the other 2 froze up at 150, cracked off a shot and just missed low :bash:, try to regroup and notice the 3rd dog had made it to about 50 yards off my left side, poped two shots off at him and missed also :bash:

Better find another hobby!!!

Jeez, Shoot-em-dead, Since you said it first, You do suck :chuckle:
You'll be the first I'll take out can hunting though.
Some days are like that. And what's with the minivan? :yike:
-
Ok, OK, the misses on the dogs can be over looked, but predator hunting in a MiniVan? :dunno: Report yourself to the nearest Man office and turn in your Man card immediately mister. :chuckle:
Good luck tomorrow.

We have 5 kids. My truck only seats five. That would make a looong drive for everyone from Vancouver.
-
:chuckle: Just funnin with you. At least you admit you missed. ;) You've got a bad case of coyote fever.
-
You might suck, but you're seeing doggies! That's got to be a plus. But, more patience, maybe some better bino's? Sounds like you're in a good spot. Quit educating those critters!

Sounds like a bad case of "Flock-shooting" to me! :nono:
-
Hand the gun over to one of the kids. :chuckle: Good luck on the next outing.

The biggest mistake people make when hunting , calling is shooting at the coyote , its very important to concentrate on the spot you want to hit . dont ever just shoot at the coyote , youll miss more then you ever hit . like the saying goes , aim small miss small . if you get into a habit of doing this soon it will just happen . muscle memory .

There I fixed it for ya. :chuckle:

Jerry is correct, I think he has been watching me shoot
Pick a spot or a hair on the dog to shoot, don't just shoot AT the coyote, it helps to force yourself to wait just a few seconds longer for the dog to turn sideways. Be certain you see the cross hair on the dog as you focus on that one spot then feel the trigger instead of just letting one fly.
I'll be heading out tomorrow with VarmintVentilator hopefully we'll get in on some action too.

I hunted several years with my wife's old Chevy Corsica. A lot of days I wish I had that back when I drive down south to hunt birds and burn 10 gallons of gas.

Whatever gets you into the field :chuckle:
Though a moped may be better in this case..... actually.... I like that idea :P
-
Be one with the bullet and get a Jeep. :)
-
Just tap it in. Give it a little tappy! Settle down, be patient! Watch a few dogs without a gun for awhile and learn some more about their behavior. Through the years the one thing I have learned is that a coyote that has been shot at is pretty damned tough to outsmart a second time....GOOD LUCK! I guess there's always next year.........
-
Don't feel bad I miss to and I hunt out of a 94 subaru impreza :chuckle: with a bad cv joint and no shocks in the back to speak of ;) But I could care less $20 150 miles ;)
