Title: last month of hunting gotta make it count ( any late season ideas)
Post by: scottcrb on January 06, 2011, 07:43:30 PM
so i know the season is over on the 3oth and that leaves 4 weekends left of hunting. has anyone been seeing birds on either side of mountains? i haven't been over mountains  in a few weeks but im assuming most small water is frozen, just trying to get a good idea where to focus my attention. id like to go 3 out of the 4 weekends so any suggestions based on birds or water or weather?

I would stay on the wet side. Its all froze over here, unless you hunt the river. Good luck.

I was out in the crescent bar area last weekend.  My father in law and myself ended up getting 5 geese on Saturday in the river.  Then Sunday was very slow and very very cold.

I was on the eastside all last week. Saw very few puddle ducks due to ice. The diver hunting was epic though. I have seen more ducks this week on the wetside for sure. I will be in fields this weekend hoping for geese.

I am trying to get my wife to sign off on watching the kids tomorrow.  Since my last post the farmer that lets me hunt his fields had over 300 plus sitting in his corn this afternoon.   :IBCOOL:

I'm going to keep hitting it hard!!! few more weeks to go, make lot's of action in the dekes in the late season, not so much wind ducks. IMO Knock'em dead boys it's almost over. :ACRY:

A lot more birds have showed up in the past week and a half.  I would focus on the west side.  Shot limits Fri.-Sun.

I ended up with a good combo hunt. Wetside is better for sure unless your a diver hunter.

Unless it gets warm, the eastside is frozen solid. Even the back bays along the Columbia are freezing up.
