Title: QUESTION ABOUT HOMEMADE E-CALLER
Post by: BIGINNER on January 07, 2011, 01:41:08 PM
I'M MAKING MYSELF AN E-CALLER THAT WILL BE USING AN MP-3 PLAYER AS THE SOUND SCORCE,  AND I'M MAKING A LITTLE DANCING DECOY,..  WELL MY QUESTION IS... HOW LOUD TO I NEED TO HAVE THE SOUND?  WILL REGULAR SPEAKERS CUT IT?  OR WILL I HAVE TO GO WITH THE POWERHORN?  I HAVE A GOOD POCKET SIZED AND THAT PWERS THE SPEAKERS I HAVE, I THINK IT CAN POWER AN POWERHORN AS WELL,  ITS JUST I ALREADY HAVE SPEAKERS, AND I'M A REALLY CHEAP *censored*, SO I DON'T WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON A POWERHORN IF I DON'T NEED TO.

I WAS THINKING ABOUT TAKING THE SPEAKERS OUTSIDE AND PUTTING THEM 80-100 YARDS AWAY TO SEE IF I CAN HEAR IT, AND THEN HAVE MY WIFE BLOW ONE OF MY COYOTE CALL FROM THE SAME DISTANCE TO SEE IF ITS ALOT LOUDER THAN THE SPEAKERS....

YOU GUYS THINK THAT WOULD BE A GOOD TEST?

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT  ;)

I used the Cass Creek Power horn ($40) for two years and it worked great.  I now have the Foxpro Spitfire and the volume is about the same.  If I really want my sound to get out there I just start with my hand calls then switch to the speaker.  If you can hear your speakers at 100 yards you know the animals can hear about double that.
