When we all look up to see the flocks migrating in that luscious "V" formation... have any of you ever noticed that one side of the "V" is longer than the other? You know why that is?

more birds on that side?

LOL.... Yup... you'd be surprised at how many folks are lookin' for sumpin' profound, or highly technical/aerodynamic in nature. Good fodder for hours in the blind with a buddy though.

No. Less birds on the other side. LOL
-
isnt it the rotation of the birds, and one side gets lopsided.

I played this game with my mom on a cold dec mornin, on her porch. :chuckle:
After i told her the answer, she locked me outside.

The V's will change lots of times as well. The lead bird will drift back a spot and the next bird will push to the front. They draft off on another, so the length on sides will change. Simple answer as mentioned, just more birds on one string.

If longest section on right....good conservative ducks. If however on the left....they are commie pinko's. :chuckle:
