Title: Hummus anyone
Post by: quadrafire on January 13, 2011, 08:00:37 AM
1. one can chickpeas (garbanzo beans) drained
2. 1 TBL Tahini (ground sesame seeds--looks like peanut butter) found near the PB in the store. You can   make it without, but it adds depth.
3. 2 tsp lemon juice
4. 1 TBL olive oil
5. dash salt
6. 1/2 tsp cumin
7. 1 TBl +/- Franks hot sauce
8. 2-3 cloves garlic-minced

Process all in food processor until smooth. chickpea juice can be added if more moisture needed. You can play with other spices if wanted. I like a lot of Franks in mine. I have also added avocado for a different twist.

Good on crackers and veggies

My wife makes hummus and it's super good.  Don't care what anybody says.  Those Pita Chips are a good choice for dipping.

Never had it home made, but I like the store bought stuff pretty well. Is it worth making your own?

I love greek food, my girl makes a tzatziki sauce that is killer on wild game. Onion, Greek Yogurt, Tomato, Cucumber, Dill. F'ing Killer, man.

Post up the tzatziki sauce mix. I love that stuff to.

1 container Greek Yogurt
English Cucumber
Red Onion
Lemon Juice
Garlic
Chopped Dill
Salt and Pepper

She doesn't put it in a food processor, although you definitely could. We just keep the veggies in quarter inch chucks and spread it over grilled venison or chicken. As far as the quantities of each ingredient. She kind of keeps adding and tasting until its right. It's kind of hard to screw up, honestly.

Hand made Tzatziki at the Curbside Bistro in Sequim!!!

I absolutely HATE plain hummus, but we've been doing some savory herb flavored stuff lately, Mmmm Mmmmm good! I'm a 100% convert!

mmmm, hummus and fizzy bubbly.  I was a skeptic but it's actually pretty good!  Especially on the spicy side.
