Hey, I got this buck during general season in GMU 139. The second picture shows where I shot my buck. The shot was about 1 1/2" directly behind the eye. It penetrated into the brain. Who thinks that should have been a fatal shot? I sure did. The buck dropped and didn't move for over 10 minutes. I had to cross a small cut to get to him and when I got there he wasn't there. It looked like someone had dropped a bucket of blood where I shot him. Running down hill from there was the biggest blood trail I've ever seen.
The buck had gone about 50 yards down hill. I shot him in spine from the cliff above and he was done. Once I did that however he rolled to the bottom of the cliff. I had shot him in the head because I didn't want him to run to the bottom after I shot him. But that was the end result anyways.
The third picture is me taking a break while packing him out to ponder why I shot my deer on the steepest part of the property we were hunting. The fourth picture is my fathers rocket scientist of a dog pointing on my buddies buck.
