has anyone heard anything good about it because my grampa is giving me a older 870 from the 70's and i dont know if i can shot steel through it and wondering if it is worth it to buy hevi shot classic doubles

The hevi shot classic doubles are for many of the older shotguns that may have Damascus twist barrel. You could use it with the older 870, but it will cost some coin. I have shot through my 1100 which is full with no issues. I have not patterned it though. Larger shot size will damage the barrel, so stick to #4's or smaller.

so i can shoot steel through it and can i shoot the bigger loads like bb 1 2 shot size

your barrel will dictate what shot you use. it would be cheaper to buy a newer choke tube barrel for the steel days. steel and hevi will respond very differntly to choke sizes. if yours is mod or more you should be good with steel.

I use Classic doubles in my old JC Higgins 12 and it is fine, patterns god and #6 brings the pheasants down. My gunsmith felt the barrel would handle the steel shot but he was worried about the choke system. My advice have it checked by a competent gunsmith to be sure.
