I just received the new record book in the mail. I really like it, its bigger than the last one with a lot of good pics. However, I know of A LOT of bulls especially out of the blues that got taken in the last couple of years that score anywhere from 350-405 that are not in the book. I know of about 4 bulls that scored 400+ from the blues that are not in here. It sure would be nice if this book would give you a more accurate idea of what Washington actually has. Why are people not submitting there animals?

To me, these record books are just another level of advertising where your hunting spots are. Usually, you need to state what county etc. that the animals were killed in. If you see (per your example) that there have been a large number of spectacular bulls killed in say, Garfield County, that really narrows down what units they were harvested in. I'm sure this leads to at least a few people putting in for permits or scouting areas they normally wouldn't.
I'm sure that WE here at HuntWa all know there aren't any elk in the Blues , but maybe some other folks will get the wrong idea and start snooping around. No matter how crowded an area is, it can always get a little bit worse. Always how an animal was killed, NEVER where.

4 bulls over 400 net or gross?
some people don't care if there name or bull is in a book or not.

Thats why.

and they are not from the Blues 8)

HAHA you're right guys. I forgot that there is no elk in the blues.

I am number 21 in the WA book for cascade roosie archery, but didnt enter it because it really doesnt matter. All that matters is I got him with my bow, and my dad and brothers were there to help. The rankings are skewed anyways because there are probably twice as much taken that make the book and arent entered. I also have a cougar that made the book, and my dad has a black bear that made it, but none are entered.
-
i dont enter any of mine :dunno: i guess its cause i dont care to spend the money . i would rather spend it on raffle tags ;)
-
I've never entered anything either. But that's probably cause I've never killed anything that would be big enough to make it in the books.... :P :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
i dont really have anything that would make the book except a cat, but my reason is im not gonna pay the money to enter an animal unless its top ten or somethin
-
I've got a few book animals, glad to know the score, but never entered them.
-
400" bulls in the blues are you high the biggest bulls in washington come from winston
-
Love how my post was removed.. why? site sponsor? that book is full of so many errors.. horrible editing, bad customer service. I was a fan of this book till I entered something, never again! Joke

Great read for the "score whores" Otherwise I get my fill of seeing good bucks and bulls on here! :twocents:

I totally understand what you are saying...but for the sake of records if they arent entered in the book than it dont matter.
I dont know whether I would enter an animal in the WA book, hopefully I'll have that problem to debate later this fall.
-
Dont have any 'book' animals to my name, and don't plan to enter any when I do take them. . . . The only animals I ever had scored were ones I took to Charlie because he was interested.
The only measurement I take is width lol
-
the record books are about honoring the animal not just the hunter
-
No, gonehuntin68 they're in Rimrock remember?
-
Nope nothing in Rimrock except Spikes - :-)

Hello! I just wanted to say that I have one of the first editions of this book and this book is pointless... I do have the state record whitetail shed entered in first place 103" however the third place one that has my name on it does not exist! They made it up, I don't have that antler... just for the sake of selling a book to people. There are several other records that are phony too... if you look carefully some people have bucks with the same year, different score. So they are saying they shot two bucks that year? I also know of some sheds in the top ten bought on ebay and they were entered in this book! The pictures are great and its a good idea but it isn't what I was hoping it would be... :dunno:

All the more reason I "could care less" :chuckle: about any record book. :twocents:

Just out of curiosity, what are the minimum scores for the WA state books for WT, Elk and Mulies? :dunno:
-
