Title: Got Skunked again off Scott turner road
Post by: cky2k897 on January 23, 2011, 08:11:28 PM
Went out today for a late afternoon hunt and once again got skunked. We were however able to call in a doe to about 50 yards of us, she just sat there and watched us for about 5 minutes before moving off into the brush. This was the 6th time out with no luck, we started calling with a night & hale rabbit call and moved to howling as the day came to a close with not so much of a peep from a dog. Not sure if were calling in the wrong spots or what but we are trying out dam near any place that we can find a clear cut all the way into elbe. Do you have to go off the main road to find better spots or what. Also Hunted CF a few times with no luck either we start at Rock candy entrance and go from there tring to stay lower, Are the yotes up high or do they like to stay down low. Never hunted the mountains before all my hunting has been done in kansas on the flat so trying to figure this out before I lose the rest of my hair. :bash:

Yotes have been educated and hunted hard the past month so have to look to different methods.
Really be careful how you enter and area to call ( hint, hint)

I feel like we are usually dont call within 10 to 20 minutes of getting set dont talk walk quietly, The only time we havnt called in early morning and night but not really a fan of calling at night b/c half the fun for me is just getting out and enjoying the beautiful scenery but if thats what it takes i will resort to it.

went to scott turner a little while back, really nice elk herd  in the pastures before the state land, once on the state land in my experience you have to get off the beaten trail quite a ways.
