Title: Bow Blind Suggestions?
Post by: Gobble Doc on January 24, 2011, 09:06:40 PM: I'm considering getting a blind that I can use with my son who has taken up the bow. He is 14. I haven't had or used a blind before so I'm wondering if anyone has either any specific suggestions or general features to think about. It looks like Cabelas sells a Primos Predator blind for about $150. The only thing I wonder about is if the windows are large enough for a bow. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Post by: Lowedog on January 24, 2011, 09:26:35 PM: Only one I have experience with is the Double Bull Dark Horse. Sets up easily and has plenty of room and big shooting windows.

Post by: Annette on January 25, 2011, 05:46:31 PM: We have the Ameristep blinds..3 and an old DBL Bull. We like them all. The thing is to have room enough to be at full draw without your arrow sticking out the window. We don't shoot through the netting but you must choose the moment to draw carefuly. Practice lots as soon as you get it. Some people dig 4-6 inches into the ground so the chair sits low enough. Some times just on the knees works if you can get away with the movement but the knees sometimes is to low..Plan on finding out what works for you and your son and get one in your price range ;)

Post by: D-Rock425 on January 25, 2011, 06:00:08 PM: Try to find someone that has some set up in the store. Most will work fine for bow hunting. Pay attention to the windows make sure the aren't to high for him.

Thanks for the suggestions! We live in Snohomish and it is such a haul to go to Cabelas to look at a bunch set up. I wish there was someplace closer. What do you think about shooting through the window mesh fabric? Do most people do that or just try to get a window open with minimal movement?

Post by: mallard79 on January 25, 2011, 07:38:19 PM: My uncle and I have an ameristep blinds. If you want to meet up somewhere to take a look at mine to see whether it will work for you size wise let me know. It works good for me especially for the price compared to the primos blinds.

Post by: go4itlab on January 30, 2011, 05:58:08 PM: I got the primos double bull one that has a 360 window with magnets instead of velcro. Its nice easy to set up and shoot out but the zippers are weak and I had to replace it with a stronger one.
